UoA JRF and Research Assistant Recruitment 2026: Overview

University of Allahabad (UoA) is recruiting a Junior Research Fellow and Research Assistant at its Centre of Behavioural and Cognitive Sciences. Both roles support a Cognitive Science Research Initiative project funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. The study examines how emotional goals change with age and how those shifts relate to structural and functional changes in the brain. This is a focused cognitive-neuroscience project rather than a general university administration assignment.

Your work will sit at the meeting point of psychology, ageing research and functional neuroimaging. The notice is especially relevant if you have already worked with computer-based behavioural experiments or brain-imaging data and want deeper project experience in an academic research centre.

Posts and Disciplines

• Junior Research Fellow: A research-track role for someone who can contribute to behavioural experiments and neuroimaging work while meeting the project's fellowship condition.
• Research Assistant: A supporting research role within the same project, with an emphasis on organising study activity, handling research data and helping the team keep the work on schedule.

The two roles share the same ageing and emotional-goals study, so you should choose the position that matches your academic and research profile. Experience with older participants is useful because the project directly studies age-related change.

Post-wise Duties

Junior Research Fellow

You will help plan and conduct the project's computer-based behavioural experiments, support functional neuroimaging sessions and work with the resulting data. You may also help the research team document methods, organise findings and prepare project outputs.

Research Assistant

You will support participant coordination, experiment records and the routine organisation of behavioural and imaging datasets. Your role also helps the project team keep study material, consent records and research files ready for review.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project appointment: Both positions are purely temporary and linked to the funded research project.
• Initial tenure: The first appointment is for one year; extension depends on your performance and the continued availability of project funds.
• Participant context: Prior experience working with an elderly population is desirable because the study focuses on ageing.
• Language: Conversational Hindi is needed for the work described in the notice.
