UoA JRA Zoology Recruitment 2026: Overview

University of Allahabad (UoA) is engaging a Junior Research Assistant in its Department of Zoology for a Council of Science and Technology, Uttar Pradesh funded project. The study will assess microplastic pollution in the Mandakini River around Chitrakoot, examine the risks linked to that pollution and explore sustainable ways to reduce it. The work combines river ecology, laboratory analysis and field investigation, making it a useful opportunity if you want environmental research experience rooted in a real river system.

The project is supervised by Dr Khangembam Cherita Devi and connects the Zoology department in Prayagraj with field sampling in Uttar Pradesh. You may work with aquatic samples, microplastic identification and environmental observations, while supporting the records needed to compare pollution levels and possible mitigation approaches. Experience with FTIR or Raman spectroscopy will be especially relevant, although the advertisement treats that background as desirable rather than a compulsory entry condition.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Uttar Pradesh residency: You must be an Indian citizen and a resident of Uttar Pradesh to be considered for this fellowship.
• Temporary appointment: The role is tied entirely to the CSTUP project and does not create any right to permanent absorption by the University or funding body.
• Renewal: The initial appointment runs for one year. Further yearly renewal depends on your performance and the recommendation of the principal investigator and co-principal investigator, within the project's overall tenure.
• Early termination: The University may end the engagement before the project closes if your performance is not satisfactory.
• Shortlisting: Holding the required degree does not by itself guarantee an interview. The team will shortlist applicants according to merit and the research needs of the project.
• In-person interview: Shortlisted applicants must attend personally and show their original records for checking.
• Joining: The selected person must be ready to join promptly after receiving the offer.
• Travel costs: No TA or DA will be paid for attending the interview.
