NIT Agartala is hiring 1 Project Assistant/Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the Department of Chemistry, under an ANRF-funded research project. National Institute of Technology Agartala (NITA) Project Assistant/JRF Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

National Institute of Technology Agartala (NITA) has invited applications for a Project Assistant/Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position under an Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) funded project titled "Selective Reduction of Oxy-nitrogen Anions to Ammonia over HER: Waste to Wealth Strategy for Water Purification and Energy Recovery". The Institute is located in Jirania, West Tripura, and the project is led by Principal Investigator Dr. Anannya Saha in the Department of Chemistry, running for 3 years, from 11 June 2026 to 10 June 2029. This position is governed by the administrative rules and conditions imposed by the Research & Consultancy Cell, NIT Agartala. Candidates with CSIR-UGC NET or GATE qualification are preferred, though M.Sc Chemistry graduates without NET/GATE can also apply for the Project Assistant role at a lower stipend.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need an M.Sc in Chemistry or an equivalent degree from a recognised university.
• Preferred: Candidates who have qualified CSIR-UGC NET (including Lectureship/Assistant Professorship) and/or GATE will be given preference for the JRF-level stipend.
• Skills: You should have hands-on laboratory experience in synthesis and basic characterisation, along with working knowledge of Microsoft Office, ChemDraw, and Origin software.

Salary

• If you have a GATE/NET or equivalent qualification, you will get Rs. 37,000 per month plus 10% HRA (about Rs. 40,700 in total).
• If you do not have GATE/NET, you will get Rs. 30,000 per month plus 10% HRA (about Rs. 33,000 in total) as a Project Assistant.
• No TA/DA will be given for appearing in the interview or for joining after selection.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

NIT Agartala will select the Project Assistant/JRF through the following stages:

1. Screening of Applications: The Department of Chemistry will screen applications based on eligibility criteria.
2. Document Verification: You must bring your original documents and experience certificates at the time of joining for verification.
3. Interview: Only shortlisted candidates will be informed by email and called for a hybrid (online + offline) interview.
