NIT Agartala is hiring 1 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) for an ANRF-funded research project in the Department of Physics. If you have an M.Sc in Physics, Applied Physics or an equivalent degree with a valid GATE/NET score, you can send your application by 24 July 2026. The interview will be held on 27 July 2026 in hybrid mode. You will get a monthly stipend of Rs. 37,000 as per ANRF norms.

National Institute of Technology Agartala (NITA) has invited applications for 1 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position under an Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) funded project titled "Development of a Machine Learning Assisted Wearable Sensor for Real-Time Detection of Acetone in Ear Canal for Diabetes Monitoring". The Institute is located in Jirania, West Tripura, and the project is led by Principal Investigator Dr. Suvra Prakash Mondal in the Department of Physics for a duration of 36 months. This JRF position is governed by the administrative rules and conditions imposed by the Research & Consultancy Cell, NIT Agartala. Candidates with experience in synthesis of nanomaterials and sensors will have an added advantage, though it is not mandatory.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: You need an M.Sc in Physics, Applied Physics, BS-MS in Physics, BT-MT in Engineering Physics, or M.Sc/M.Tech in Nanotechnology or Material Science.
  • Mandatory: You must have a valid GATE or NET score.
  • Desirable: Experience in synthesis of nanomaterials and sensors is preferred but not compulsory.

Salary

  • You will get a monthly stipend of Rs. 37,000 as per ANRF norms.
  • No TA/DA will be given for appearing in the interview or for joining after selection.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

NIT Agartala will select the JRF through the following stages:

  1. Screening of Applications: The Department of Physics will screen applications based on eligibility criteria.
  2. Document Verification: You must bring your original degree certificates and experience certificates at the time of the interview for verification.
  3. Interview: Only shortlisted candidates will be informed by email and called for the interview, which will be held offline and online via Google Meet.

The Institute reserves the right to cancel the recruitment process at any time without assigning a reason, and the engagement can be terminated without notice. You will be responsible for the authenticity of all information, documents, and photographs you submit, and furnishing false information may lead to rejection or cancellation of your candidature. If shortlisted, you will receive your engagement letter through email upon selection.
