WB Police Howrah GRP Driver Recruitment 2026: Overview
West Bengal Police’s Government Railway Police (GRP), Howrah is engaging contractual Drivers under the Superintendent of Railway Police. The notice follows state government sanction for temporary driver engagements in this office. If you are considering the role, the key distinction is its fixed-term contract: the appointment comes with conditions set out in an agreement and does not create a right to a regular government post.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Contract period: your initial engagement lasts one year from the date you sign the contract. Any renewal depends on satisfactory performance and approval from the competent authority; it is not automatic.
- Service rules: the terms of your agreement and applicable government rules govern this temporary engagement. Statutory deductions apply to the consolidated monthly payment.
- Regular appointment: the notice rules out absorption into the government’s regular establishment. You cannot claim regularization or a regular appointment on the strength of this contract.
- Travel costs: no travel or daily allowance is paid for attending the driving test and interview.
- Conduct: trying to influence the recruitment or canvassing for selection can lead to disqualification.
- Recruitment cancellation: the authority can cancel the engagement process at any stage without advance notice.
