TSLPRB has released notification Rc No. 279/Rect./Rect-3/2026 (dated 29 July 2026) for 23 Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) posts in the Fingerprint Bureau of the Telangana Police Department. This is a technical post built for IT and computer science graduates who want to work in forensic and fingerprint identification technology within the police force. As an ASI in the Fingerprint Bureau, you will use digital fingerprint matching systems to help investigating officers identify suspects and link evidence to criminal records - a specialized role that combines police work with computer science. Both men and women can apply, and the 23 vacancies are distributed Zone-wise across the state's Contiguous Zonal Cadres.

Who Can Apply?

You must meet the qualification, age and medical standards below as on the date of notification. Your candidature is provisional at every stage and subject to TSLPRB verifying your original documents.

• Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a specialization in AI/AI & ML/Data Science/Networks/Cyber Security/Internet of Things
• OR: B.Sc in Computer Science or Computer Applications from a recognized university, as on the notification date (29 July 2026)
• Gender: Both men and women can apply for this post.
• Medical Standards: You need 6/6 vision in both eyes (Snellen chart) with no colour blindness or squint.
• If you hold a higher qualification than the ones listed above, you will still be considered on par with candidates who meet the prescribed qualification.

Age Limit

• You should be between 21 and 25 years old as on 1 July 2026.
• Uniformed Services Relaxation: The upper age limit is raised by 5 years as per a Government Order for this Police Department post.
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST/BC/EWS candidates get 5 years; Ex-servicemen and NCC Instructors get 3 years plus their length of service.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a salary of Rs. 33,750 to Rs. 99,310 per month under the pay scale fixed for Post Code 33.
• You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Telangana government rules.
• Like other TSLPRB posts, you will join as a Stipendiary Cadet Trainee (SCT) before being confirmed in the role.

Physical Standards

Since this is a uniformed police post, you must clear the physical standards below before you can sit for the written exam.

For Male Candidates:

• Height: 162 cm minimum (160 cm for eligible ST candidates from notified Agency areas)
• 1600m Run: within 7 minutes 15 seconds (9 min 30 sec for Ex-servicemen)
• Long Jump: 4 metres (qualifying)
• Shot-put (7.26 kg): 6 metres (qualifying)

For Female Candidates:

• Height: 152.5 cm minimum (150 cm for eligible ST candidates from notified Agency areas)
• 800m Run: within 5 minutes 20 seconds
• Long Jump: 2.5 metres (qualifying)
• Shot-put (4 kg): 4 metres (qualifying)

33⅓% of vacancies in each category are reserved for women under horizontal reservation.

Selection Process

TSLPRB will select ASI (Fingerprint Bureau) candidates in 2 stages:

1. Physical Measurement Test (PMT) & Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Height check, run event, long jump and shot-put.
2. Written Examination: 3 papers of 3 hours each - English, Arithmetic & Reasoning, and a Technical Paper. Paper I is qualifying only; Papers II and III decide your final merit.

Your final selection depends on your aggregate marks in Papers II and III of the Written Examination. Qualifying marks: 40% (OC/EWS), 35% (BC), 30% (SC/ST/Ex-servicemen) in each paper. 95% of the vacancies in each Contiguous Zone will be filled from Local Candidates of that zone, so where you are locally domiciled in Telangana affects your chances in that zone.

5. Fill Part I and Part II of the Online Application Form and upload your photo.
6. Submit the form and keep the confirmation for future reference.

Note: If you also apply for other TSLPRB notifications published within 3 months of this one, your Physical Measurement Test/Physical Efficiency Test will be conducted only once, and the same scores will be used for all posts you applied for.
