The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is hiring for 3 deputation posts — Secretary, Advisor (Bengaluru), and Joint Advisor (Bhopal). TRAI Deputation Recruitment 2026 — 3 Posts

TRAI is a statutory body established under the TRAI Act, 1997, to regulate telecommunications services and protect the interests of service providers and consumers. Since 2004, TRAI also handles regulation of Broadcasting and Cable Services. These deputation openings are for experienced Group A officers from Central/State Government, PSUs, autonomous bodies, and statutory organizations. Vacancy Breakdown

• Secretary — 1 post at TRAI Headquarters, New Delhi (Pay Level 15, deputation for 2 years)
• Advisor — 1 post at TRAI Regional Office, Bengaluru (Pay Level 14, deputation for 3 years)
• Joint Advisor — 1 post at TRAI Regional Office, Bhopal (Pay Level 13, deputation for 3 years)

All posts are to be filled on deputation on foreign service terms as per DoP&T guidelines (OM No. 6/8/2009-Estt. Pay II dated 17th June 2010).

Who Can Apply?

You must be an officer serving in Central Government, State Government, Union Territory Administration, autonomous body, statutory organization, PSU, recognized university, or recognized research institution.

Secretary (Pay Level 15)

• Qualification: Bachelor's degree from a recognized university or institute
• Experience: Experience in telecommunications, industry, finance, accountancy, law, management, or consumer affairs
• Eligibility (any one):
  • Holding analogous post (Level 15) on regular basis; or
  • 4 years' service in Level 14 (Rs. 1,44,200–2,18,200) on regular basis

Advisor — Bengaluru (Pay Level 14)

• Qualification: Bachelor's degree from a recognized university or institute
• Experience: 15 years of experience in telecommunications, industry, finance, accountancy, law, management, or consumer affairs
• Eligibility (any one):
  • Holding analogous post (Level 14) on regular basis; or
  • 4 years' service in Level 13 (Rs. 1,23,100–2,15,900) on regular basis; or
  • 17 years' Group A service with at least 7 years in Level 12 (Rs. 78,800–2,09,200)
• Note: Preference for candidates holding senior management positions

Joint Advisor — Bhopal (Pay Level 13)

• Qualification (any one):
  • B.E./B.Tech in Electronics, Telecommunications, Electrical, Electrical & Electronics, IT, or Computer Science (AICTE recognized); or
  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Commerce, Engineering, Law, Science, or Humanities (UGC recognized); or
  • Membership of ICAI or ICMAI
• Experience: Relevant field experience required
• Eligibility (any one):
  • Holding analogous post (Level 13) on regular basis; or
  • 4 years' service in Level 12 (Rs. 78,800–2,09,200) on regular basis; or
  • 12 years' Group A service with at least 6 years in Level 11

Age Limit

• Secretary: Maximum 58 years on the last date of application (10th April 2026)
• Advisor (Bengaluru): Maximum 58 years on the last date of application (10th April 2026)
• Joint Advisor (Bhopal): Maximum 56 years on the last date of application (19th April 2026)

Salary

• Secretary: Pay Level 15 — Rs. 1,82,200 to Rs. 2,24,100 (basic pay) plus DA, HRA, and other allowances as per Government rules
• Advisor: Pay Level 14 — Rs. 1,44,200 to Rs. 2,18,200 (basic pay) plus DA, HRA, and other allowances as per Government rules
• Joint Advisor: Pay Level 13 — Rs. 1,23,100 to Rs. 2,15,900 (basic pay) plus DA, HRA, and other allowances as per Government rules

Deputation terms will follow DoP&T OM No. 6/8/2009-Estt. (Pay II) dated 17th June 2010, as amended. You will also get deputation allowance on top of these amounts.

Selection Process

There is no written exam for these deputation posts. Selection is based on your service record, qualifications, experience, and interview performance.
