Who Can Apply?

For Project Associate-I/II (INSACOG Project, 2 posts):

• You need a B.E./B.Tech./M.Sc./M.Tech degree in any branch of Life Sciences from a recognized university.
• You should have hands-on experience in multi-omics, microbiology, or environmental biology, especially in microbial culture and sample collection and processing.
• For Project Associate-II, you also need at least 2 years of post-qualification research experience in Microbiology.

For Senior Project Associate (Neonatal Gut Microbiome Study):

• You need a B.E./B.Tech./M.Sc./M.Tech in Life Sciences with at least 4 years of post-qualification experience in Microbiology.
• Hands-on experience in bioinformatics, 16S metagenomics, transcriptomics, or whole-genome sequencing analysis is required.

For Senior Project Associate (Tuberculosis Research):

• You need a B.E./B.Tech./M.Sc./M.Tech in Life Sciences with at least 4 years of post-qualification experience in molecular biology, microbiology, and biochemistry techniques, including animal handling.

For Principal Project Associate:

• You need a B.E./B.Tech./M.Sc./M.Tech in Life Sciences with 8+ years of experience, OR a Ph.D. in Life Sciences with 4+ years of experience.
• Experience in BSL-3 laboratories, handling Mycobacterium tuberculosis, FACS experiments, and animal studies is required.

For Project Associate-I (Placenta Health Project):

• You need a B.E./B.Tech./M.Sc./M.Tech in Life Sciences from a recognized university. Prior experience in microscopy, molecular biology techniques, and cell culture work is preferred but not mandatory.

Age Limit

• Age limit is 35 years for Project Associate-I/II posts and 40 years for Senior and Principal Project Associate posts, as on the date of the walk-in interview (the crucial date for age, experience, and qualification checks).
• Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST candidates, 3 years for OBC candidates.
• PwBD: 10 years for General category, 13 years for OBC, and 15 years for SC/ST candidates with Benchmark Disabilities.
• Central Government employees get up to 5 years relaxation, and Ex-servicemen get relaxation equal to their service period plus 3 years.

Salary

• Salary ranges from Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 49,000 per month plus House Rent Allowance (HRA), depending on the post and your qualifications.
• Project Associate-I/II: Rs. 25,000 - 35,000 + HRA (the higher slab applies if you qualified via NET/GATE or a national-level exam).
• Senior Project Associate: Rs. 42,000 + HRA
• Principal Project Associate: Rs. 49,000 + HRA
• These are consolidated project salaries, not fixed government pay-scale positions.

Selection Process

Selection for each post happens on the same day as the walk-in:

1. Written Test: A short written test related to your subject area.
2. Skill Test: A practical or technical skill assessment tied to the specific project.
3. Interview: A personal interview with the project's Principal Investigator and selection committee.

If a large number of candidates turn up, THSTI will screen applicants and only test those with higher or more relevant qualifications and experience.
