Tezpur University Field Assistant Recruitment 2026 - 3 Posts

Tezpur University is a Central University established by an Act of Parliament, with its campus at Napaam near Tezpur in Assam. Its Department of Environmental Science has announced a walk-in interview for 3 temporary Field Assistant posts under the MoEF&CC-sponsored project "Reassessment, Revival, and Recognition of Bio-Resources, Handlooms, and Handicrafts of Indigenous Tribes of Manipur for Sustainable Livelihood", led by Principal Investigator Prof. Kh. Ashalata Devi. The role involves extensive fieldwork in tribal villages of Manipur — collecting, documenting and preserving indigenous bio-resources, handlooms and handicrafts. The project also aims to build a community knowledge repository and digital archive of Manipur's traditional crafts, assess how climate change is affecting bio-resource use, and develop skill modules for local youth, women and artisan groups to revitalise their heritage crafts. This is a good opportunity for candidates who enjoy field and laboratory work in conservation and heritage research, and who want hands-on experience in a MoEF&CC-funded livelihood and sustainability project.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: You should have a background in interdisciplinary conservation biology or a related field, evidenced by your Bachelor's and Master's degree certificates.
  • Skills: You need strong field work skills, especially experience working in hilly and tribal areas of Manipur, and should be comfortable with intensive field surveys that may involve travel to remote indigenous villages.
  • Experience: Prior work experience in indigenous tribal villages of Manipur, and hands-on experience collecting, storing, processing and preserving handicraft/bio-resource specimens, will be preferred over candidates without this background.
  • Additional Preference: Candidates with basic computer skills (MS Office, data compilation, file handling and office management) will get extra preference during shortlisting.

Age Limit

  • You should not be more than 28 years old as on the date of interview (18 August 2026).
  • Age Relaxation: The upper age limit may be relaxed as per Government of India rules for reserved category candidates.

Salary

  • You will get a fixed salary of Rs. 20,000 per month.
  • The post is initially for 1 year or until further orders, whichever is earlier, and may be extended based on your performance and the project's timeline.
  • The maximum duration of the appointment is 3 years, and it is co-terminus with the project.

Selection Process

Selection is through a walk-in interview — there is no written exam:

  1. Application Screening: Send your CV and documents by email before the deadline, mentioning your preferred mode (offline or online) for the interview.
  2. Walk-in Interview: Held in hybrid mode (offline and online) on 18 August 2026 at 10:00 AM in the Department of Environmental Science, Tezpur University.
  3. Document Verification: If you attend offline, the selection committee verifies your original documents at the interview itself. If you attend online and get selected, your original documents are verified by the Principal Investigator on the date of joining.

Note that possessing the minimum qualification alone does not guarantee an interview call — the selection committee shortlists candidates based on their overall profile, academic record and relevant field experience in Manipur's indigenous communities.

How to Apply

  1. Fill in the application form (Annexure-I) along with your CV.
  2. Attach self-attested copies of your age proof, category certificate, mark sheets from Class 10 onwards, experience certificate and publications (if any).

  5. If you choose the online mode, you will get a Google Meet link before 5:00 PM on 17 August 2026.
  6. Attend the walk-in interview on 18 August 2026 at 10:00 AM with your original documents (if attending offline) or keep them ready for verification later (if attending online).

Note: No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. If you are currently employed or pursuing a PhD, you must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your employer or supervisor. For further details, you can contact the Principal Investigator, Prof. Kh. Ashalata Devi, at the Department of Environmental Science, Tezpur University.
