Territorial Army Officer Recruitment 2026 — 12 Posts

The Territorial Army Directorate, under the Indian Army, has released a notification for 12 Officer posts at the rank of Lieutenant for civilian candidates in 2026. Out of 12 posts, 11 are for male candidates and 1 is for female candidates. This is a part-time commitment with full-time career — you serve your nation while continuing your civilian job. The Computer Based Test (CBT) is scheduled for 12 July 2026 and interviews are planned for October 2026.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

• You must be a Graduate from any stream from a recognised University or Institution.

Employment Requirement

• You must be gainfully employed (have an existing civilian job). Unemployed candidates are NOT eligible to apply.

Nationality

• Only citizens of India are eligible.

Physical Fitness

• You must be physically and medically fit in all respects.

Age Limit

• Minimum age: 18 years
• Maximum age: 42 years
• Age is calculated as on 19 May 2026 (last date of application)
• Note: There is no age relaxation for reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC) as the upper age limit of 42 years is already generous for working professionals.

Salary

• Pay Level 10 under the 7th Central Pay Commission
• Starting salary: Rs. 56,100 per month at the rank of Lieutenant
• Plus Military Service Pay (MSP): Rs. 15,500 per month
• Additional allowances: DA, HRA, Field Area Allowance, Kit Maintenance Allowance, Transport Allowance as applicable
• Note: As Territorial Army is a part-time commitment, salary and allowances are paid only during the mandatory 2 months of annual embodiment for training/operations.

Physical Standards

All candidates must be physically and medically fit in all respects as per Army medical standards. Detailed physical and medical standards are available in the official notification on territorialarmy.in.

Selection Process

The selection is done in 4 stages:

1. Computer Based Test (CBT): 100 objective-type questions for 100 marks in 2 hours. The exam covers Reasoning, Elementary Mathematics, General Knowledge, and English (25 questions each). Negative marking of 0.33 marks per wrong answer. Exam language: English and Hindi. CBT scheduled for 12 July 2026.
2. SSB (Service Selection Board) Interview: Candidates shortlisted on CBT merit are called for intelligence and personality tests at SSB. This is a multi-day assessment covering psychological tests, group tasks, interviews, and command tasks.
3. Medical Examination: SSB-recommended candidates undergo a detailed medical examination at an authorised Military Hospital.
4. Interview / Final Selection: Interviews are scheduled for October 2026. Final merit list is prepared based on SSB and medical fitness.

7. Applications must be submitted online only — no offline/postal applications are accepted.

• Lead and command troops in your assigned Territorial Army unit during embodiment periods
• Participate in mandatory annual training camps of at least two months every year
• Maintain physical fitness and military readiness as per Indian Army standards
• Assist the Regular Army during internal security operations, natural disasters, and national emergencies when called
• Manage administrative and operational duties of the unit during training and embodiment
• Uphold the discipline and regulations of the Territorial Army Act at all times
• Continue your civilian career while fulfilling Territorial Army obligations as required
