Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) is conducting a special internal recruitment for the post of Constable (General Duty) through Remustration. This is a closed recruitment — only serving SSB Combatised Constable Tradesmen and Constable (Orderlies) can apply. If you are a serving SSB Constable Tradesman or Orderly with at least 3 years of regular service and have passed Matriculation (10th class), you can apply online from 22 May 2026 to 20 June 2026. The salary is in Pay Level-3 (Rs. 21,700 to Rs. 69,100) plus allowances.

The Ministry of Home Affairs, through the Office of the Director General, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), has issued Advertisement No. 600/RC/SSB/Remust.CT(GD)-2026/2026/3030-3152 inviting applications from serving Combatised Constable Tradesmen and Constable Orderlies for remustration to Constable (General Duty). This is not open recruitment — only existing SSB personnel in eligible trades (such as Cook, Tailor, Cobbler, Barber, Washerman, Safaiwala, Gardener, Water Carrier, Waiter, Helper) and Constable Orderlies are eligible. Who Can Apply?

• Who is eligible: Only serving Male and Female Combatised Constables (Tradesmen and Orderlies) in SSB
• Educational Qualification: Matriculation (10th class) or equivalent from a recognised Board or Institute
• Service Requirement: Minimum 3 years of regular service in SSB as on the cut-off date
• Medical Category: SHAPE-I (highest medical fitness category)
• Service Record: Clean service record with no major punishment in recent years
• Eligible Trades: Cook, Tailor, Cobbler, Barber, Washerman, Safaiwala, Gardener, Water Carrier, Waiter, Helper, Constable (Orderly)

Salary

• Selected candidates will be placed in Pay Matrix Level-3 (Rs. 21,700 to Rs. 69,100) as per the 7th CPC
• Basic pay starts at Rs. 21,700 per month
• You will also get Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Ration Money Allowance, Washing Allowance and other admissible allowances
• Estimated in-hand salary: Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 38,000 per month depending on posting location
• Covered under the National Pension System (NPS)

Physical Standards

For Male Candidates

• Height: 170 cm (relaxation as per SSB rules)
• Chest: 80 cm (unexpanded) / 85 cm (expanded) — minimum 5 cm expansion
• Weight: Proportionate to height and age as per medical standards

For Female Candidates

• Height: 157 cm (relaxation as per SSB rules)
• Weight: Proportionate to height and age as per medical standards

Application Fee

• As this is an internal departmental recruitment for serving SSB personnel, application fee details will be specified in the detailed advertisement
• Generally, no fee or a nominal fee is charged for departmental recruitment

Selection Process

Selection is done in successive stages:

1. Physical Standard Test (PST): Height, chest and weight check as per SSB standards
2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Running, long jump, high jump and other physical tasks. Ex-Servicemen are exempted from PET.
3. Written Examination: 100 objective multiple choice questions for 100 marks, to be answered in 2 hours. Subjects include General Awareness, Numerical Ability, English / Hindi, and Reasoning.
4. Detailed Medical Examination (DME): SHAPE-I medical standards
5. Document Verification: Original service documents, ACR record, education certificates and other documents

2. Login with your departmental credentials as a serving SSB personnel
3. Fill the online application form with your service details and personal information
4. Upload scanned copies of educational certificates, service record extract, ACRs, and recent photograph
5. Submit the form and take a printout for your records
6. Forward the printed application through proper channel (through your Commanding Officer) for service verification, as required
7. Make sure the online application is submitted on or before 20 June 2026

• Maintain law and order along international borders and in deployed areas
• Patrol assigned border posts and respond to security emergencies
• Carry out armed duties, escort duties and VIP protection when assigned
• Assist in anti-smuggling, anti-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations
• Maintain weapons, equipment and uniform in proper condition at all times
• Follow orders of senior officers and uphold SSB discipline at all times
• Prepare daily duty reports and incident logs as required by the unit
