Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has released a circular to fill 2 Supervisor (Workshop) posts in its Workshop / Mechanical setup. Both vacancies are in the General (Unreserved) category and are filled 100% by departmental exam from serving SMC staff. If you work at SMC, have an engineering background and have finished 5 years of service, you can apply for this promotion.

Who Can Apply?

This is a 100% internal departmental recruitment. Only current SMC employees who have completed 5 years of service can apply. You must also meet one of these qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering from a recognised university, OR
• Diploma in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering from a Technical Examination Board or recognised university, plus at least 2 years experience in Mechanical/Automobile Engineering in a Government body, local body, Government undertaking, board or company under the Companies Act, 1956

Computer knowledge (CCC): You must pass the CCC exam or hold a recognised CCC/CCC+ equivalent degree within 1 year of appointment, as per SMC rules.

Age Limit

Salary

• Pay Scale: Rs. 5,500 - 9,000 (old scale), Pay Band Rs. 9,300 - 34,800, Grade Pay Rs. 4,400
• 7th Pay Matrix Level-7: Rs. 39,900 to Rs. 1,26,600 per month
• Plus DA, HRA and other allowances as per Surat Municipal Corporation rules

Selection Process

The Appointment Authority will decide the selection method based on the recruitment rules. Selection may include:

1. Written Test and/or Oral Interview — the exam centre, date and pattern will be announced on the SMC website and by SMS.
2. Document Verification: You must bring original certificates plus self-attested copies (education, experience, registration).

The final select list will be prepared by the Staff Selection Committee as per the cadre recruitment rules and roster.

2. Log in, fill the Personal Details (enter your current SMC regular employee number), Educational Qualification and Experience Details.
3. Upload your photo (max 150 KB) and signature (max 50 KB) in JPG/JPEG or PNG format.
4. Confirm and submit the application online before the last date.
5. Take a printout, attach all proofs and your latest salary slip, and send the hard copy through proper channel (your department/zone head approval) to the Administrative Officer (Recruitment Department) within 7 working days after the last date.

• Supervise repair and maintenance of municipal vehicles and machinery in the workshop

• Monitor workshop safety rules and proper use of equipment
