About This Job

You must be between 18 and 35 years old and a permanent resident of the gram sabha or ward where the post is located. As an Anganwadi Worker, you would run a local Anganwadi centre and support the health, nutrition and early education of children, pregnant women and new mothers.

Office of the District Programme Officer (ICDS), Kannauj — Anganwadi Worker Recruitment 2026 - 125 Posts

The Office of the District Programme Officer, Kannauj has released a notification to fill 125 vacant Anganwadi Worker posts under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme that runs in every block of the district. Anganwadi centres are the backbone of this scheme — they provide supplementary nutrition, pre-school education, immunisation support and health awareness in villages and city wards. Selection is purely merit-based — there is no written exam. A merit list is prepared from your educational marks, so this is a strong chance for 12th-pass women in Kannauj to get a respected community job close to home.

Vacancy Breakdown

The 125 posts are spread across these projects (highest first):

  • Umarda: 39 posts
  • Jalalabad: 17 posts
  • Kannauj Rural: 16 posts
  • Chhibramau: 13 posts
  • Saurikh: 12 posts
  • Talgram: 11 posts
  • Haseran: 8 posts

  • Gugrapur: 1 post

Category-wise Breakdown:

  • OBC (Other Backward Class): 32 posts
  • SC (Scheduled Caste): 29 posts

The project-wise and ward-wise reservation details are also displayed on the notice boards of the Collectorate, Vikas Bhawan, Tehsil and Block offices in Kannauj. The number of posts can change slightly in special circumstances.

Who Can Apply?

  • Gender: Only women can apply for these posts.
  • Qualification: You must have passed Intermediate (12th class) or an equivalent exam from a recognised board. There is no upper qualification limit — if you hold a graduation or post-graduation degree, those marks are counted to boost your merit score.
  • Residence: You must be a permanent resident of the same gram sabha or ward where the post is located. Applications from other gram sabhas or wards are not accepted, so apply only for a post in your own area.
  • Preference is given to women from below-poverty-line (BPL) families and to widows, divorced or destitute women of the same gram sabha or ward.

Age Limit

  • You should be between 18 and 35 years old as on 1 January 2026.
  • Your date of birth as written in your High School (10th) certificate will be treated as final.

Salary

  • This is an honorarium-based post under the ICDS scheme, paid jointly by the Central and State Governments as per Uttar Pradesh government rules.
  • Since Anganwadi Worker is an honorary position, it does not follow a 7th Pay Commission pay scale, and allowances like DA, HRA or TA do not apply.
  • It is still a stable, long-term role in your own village or ward, with the chance to serve your community every day.

Application Fee

  • There is no application fee for any candidate.
  • You can apply completely free of cost at upanganwadibharti.in.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no exam. Selection works like this:

  1. Merit List: A merit list is prepared from your educational marks (Intermediate and any higher qualification). The higher your marks, the higher your rank — so your school and college results decide your chances.
  2. Residence Priority: Permanent residents of the same gram sabha or ward are considered first.
  3. Preference Order: Among local residents, BPL widows, divorced and destitute women get first preference, followed by other BPL women. If no eligible woman is found in the gram sabha, candidates from the same project (urban or rural) are considered.
  4. Document Verification: Your certificates are checked before final selection.

The final decision is taken by the district-level selection committee, and its decision is binding.

How to Apply

  1. Go to the official portal at upanganwadibharti.in.
  2. Register and select Kannauj district and your project.
  3. Fill in the online application form carefully — any wrong information can cancel your candidature.
  4. Upload your photo, signature, marksheets, and your digitally-signed residence, caste and income certificates.
  5. Submit the form before the last date and take a printout for your records.

Tip: Get your residence, caste and income certificates issued from the tehsil with a digital signature in advance, as they must be online-verifiable. Only online applications are accepted — offline or postal applications will not be considered in any case.
