SGPGIMS Technical Coordinator Recruitment 2026: Overview

Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow is hiring a Technical Coordinator for the Centre of Excellence for Rare Diseases run by its Department of Medical Genetics. The centre works under the National Policy for Rare Diseases 2021, and the post follows hiring guidelines that the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has issued for rare disease centres across India. The hiring is led by Dr Kausik Mandal, Professor and Head of Medical Genetics and Nodal Officer of the centre.

This is a contractual project post, not a regular institute job. You will be the main link between the rare disease clinic, the hospital's clinical departments, the ministry, state governments and the smaller spoke hospitals — so it suits someone who already understands how public health programmes and government health schemes work on the ground. The job mixes coordination, patient support, data reporting through the Rare Disease Registry and ABHA records, and awareness work such as trainings and IEC material.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Engagement: Contractual for one year, extendable as per the requirement of the Centre of Excellence.
• Pay revisions: The job starts on a consolidated pay, with a yearly increment linked to the NHSRC/NHM HR guidelines.
• Two qualification routes: You can apply with a Master's in a public health field or with an MSW (or equivalent). The MoHFW guideline attached to the notice links the five years of public health sector experience to the MSW route, while the institute's own letter lists it as a separate line, so keep your experience certificates ready either way.
• Essential familiarity: You must know the public health system for rare diseases and the main government health schemes.
• Shortlisting: Only shortlisted candidates are contacted by email or phone for the written exam or personal interview in the Department of Medical Genetics.
• Travel costs: No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.
• Right to change: The Nodal Officer can amend or cancel the advertisement in whole or in part without giving a reason.
• Extension and termination: As per the MoHFW guideline, day-to-day management, extension or termination of this contract is decided by the Centre of Excellence under its own rules.

• Act as the focal point for the Rare Diseases Clinic at the Centre of Excellence
• Coordinate with clinical departments on diagnosis, investigations and treatment plans
• Handle documentation, application review and approvals for patient financial support
• Liaise with MoHFW, state governments and spoke hospitals on funds, procurement and Utilization Certificates
• Track drug procurement so therapy reaches patients on time
• Monitor ABHA ID generation and keep the Rare Disease Registry and digital records updated
• Prepare timely reports, data analytics and dashboards for MoHFW and internal reviews
• Organise trainings and awareness programmes, and counsel patients and caregivers
