Burari Hospital Senior Resident Recruitment 2026: Overview

Burari Hospital, run by the Government of NCT of Delhi, is holding walk-in interviews for Senior Residents in its Obstetrics and Gynaecology (OBG) and General Surgery departments. The hospital in Kaushik Enclave, north Delhi, opened as a dedicated COVID hospital in 2020 and began general services in 2022. It is now a 768-bed hospital with a 50-bed ICU and modern operation theatres, serving roughly 10 lakh people from urban and rural areas.

These are ad-hoc posts: you join for 44 days or until a regular candidate takes over, with extensions possible under the Residency Scheme. Selection is purely on the merit list from the walk-in interview, so there is no written test — doctors who have just finished their PG and want hands-on residency in a busy Delhi Government hospital should look at this.

Posts and Disciplines

• Senior Resident (Obstetrics and Gynaecology): the larger of the two departments in this drive, covering the hospital's maternity and women's health services. You need a PG degree, DNB or diploma in OBG.
• Senior Resident (General Surgery): residency in the surgical department, working with the hospital's operation theatres and wards. You need a PG qualification in General Surgery.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The first term is 44 days or until a regular candidate joins. It can be extended up to three years in total on a satisfactory work and conduct report from your head of department and your written request.
• Three-year cap: Senior residency you have already done at any government or government-funded institute counts towards the three-year total. You must not have completed three years as a Senior Resident anywhere, regular or ad-hoc.
• Relaxed norms: Doctors who have already completed three years of SR residency may be considered only if fresh candidates are not available. They go on a separate list and are appointed for 44 days.
• Without the PG certificate: If you do not yet have your MD/DNB certificate, you can still be considered on an ad-hoc basis with two years of experience in the concerned department.
• Delhi Medical Council: You must be registered with the DMC (MBBS plus PG) on or before the interview day, or have applied for DMC registration of your PG degree or diploma.
• OBC seats: Only Delhi OBC (non-creamy layer) candidates with a certificate issued in the current financial year get OBC seats. Without valid proof at document verification, you will not be allowed into the interview.
• Reserved seats: If reserved-category candidates are not available, candidates from other categories may be taken on an ad-hoc basis for 44 days.
• Notice period: Either side can end the contract with one month's notice. Appointment also depends on medical fitness and certificate verification.
• Waiting list: A waitlisted panel stays valid for 6 months or until a fresh selection, whichever is earlier.
• No TA/DA: You will not be paid any travel or daily allowance for attending the interview.

First fill the online Google Form linked in the advertisement. After you submit, you get an auto-generated email with your prefilled form — check your spam folder if it does not arrive. Print it and bring it to the interview with two passport photos, your original documents and self-attested photocopies.

Report to the Office of the Medical Director, Burari Hospital, Kaushik Enclave, Burari, Delhi – 110084 on an interview Friday between 9 AM and 11 AM. Entry closes at 11 AM. If a scheduled Friday turns out to be a holiday, the interview moves to the next working day.
