PU Project Associate-I Recruitment 2026: Overview

Pondicherry University (PU) is hiring a Project Associate-I for the biomaterials side of a national research network funded under ANRF-PAIR (Partnerships for Accelerated Innovation and Research). The project is titled "An Eight Institution Partnership for Advancing Materials Research and Development: From Fundamental Design to Emerging Applications in Structural, Functional and Biomaterials Spaces", and the PU team is led by Dr. P. Elumalai of the Department of Green Energy Technology.

This is a one-year, contract-based project position, not a regular university job. There is no online form — you are selected through a walk-in interview at the Kalapet campus, where your interview and your academic record are both weighed. If you have worked with mammalian cell culture, drug nanoformulation or molecular biology techniques, the project team says it will give you preference.

The work is part of a multi-institution network: the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore is the hub, while IIEST Shibpur, Calicut University, Kumaun University, Bangalore University and NIT Nagaland are spoke institutes alongside PU. That makes it a good fit if you want research exposure beyond a single lab.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract only: The position is purely contractual and temporary, and you get no terminal benefits when the contract ends.
• Tenure: The engagement runs for one year from the date of appointment.
• HRA and hostel: If you take hostel accommodation provided by PU, you will not get the HRA.
• Supervision: You will work under a faculty member in a suitable department of the university.
• Travel: You may have to travel to IISc Bangalore and the spoke institutes for collaborative work during the project.
• Canvassing: Any canvassing on your behalf disqualifies you, and the project team will not answer interim queries about the interview or selection.
