Pondicherry University RA-I and Project Technical Support Recruitment 2026: Overview

Pondicherry University is hiring for two project roles in its Department of Microbiology, School of Life Sciences, at the Kalapet campus in Puducherry. The posts sit under CARMA: The Co-selection of Antimicrobial Resistance by Metals Alliance, a research project led by Prof. Joseph Selvin. The project studies how metals help bacteria hold on to antimicrobial resistance — so this is a good fit if you want hands-on research work in AMR and microbial genomics. These are project-based engagements, not regular university posts.

Posts and Disciplines

• Research Associate-I (RA-I): the senior research role on the project, open to Ph.D. holders in Microbiology, Genetics, Biotechnology or another Life Sciences field. The project wants someone who already knows antimicrobial resistance and microbial genomics and can manage research data and write clearly.
• Project Technical Support III: the hands-on technical role, open to M.Sc. or M.Tech graduates in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Medical Biotechnology, Medical Biochemistry or any Life Sciences stream. Experience with clinical and environmental samples gives you an edge.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: Both posts are for one year and are tied to the CARMA project.
• HRA: Both posts carry 20% HRA on top of the fixed monthly amount.
• Ph.D. cut-off: For the Research Associate-I post, your Ph.D. must already be awarded as on 1 October 2026 — a thesis that is only submitted does not meet the condition.
• Clinical work: Project Technical Support III candidates should be willing to work in clinical settings whenever the project needs it.
