Oil India Limited Teacher, Librarian and Instructor Recruitment 2026
Oil India Limited (OIL), a Maharatna Central Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India, has invited applications for 29 posts of Graduate Teachers, Post Graduate Teachers, Librarian and Instructors. These posts are based at OIL's work centres in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. This is a great opportunity if you want a stable government-sector job in the education field.
Post Details and Vacancies
A total of 29 posts are available across four categories:
- Graduate Teachers (GT) – 8 posts: Maths, English, Hindi, Assamese, Physics, Geography, Chemistry, Biology
- Librarian – 1 post
- Post Graduate Teachers (PGT) – 9 posts: Economics, Physics, Maths, English, Education, Accountancy, Bio Science, Biotechnology, Computer Science
- Instructors – 3 posts: Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum

Who Can Apply
Eligibility depends on the post you are applying for:
- Graduate Teachers: You need a Bachelor's Degree with Major or Honours in the relevant subject with at least 45% marks, plus a B.Ed. degree. You must also have studied Assamese as a Main Indian Language (MIL) or Elective subject in Class 10.
- Librarian: You need a Bachelor's Degree in Library and Information Science.
- Post Graduate Teachers: You need a Master's Degree in the relevant subject with at least 50% marks, plus a Bachelor's Degree with Major or Honours in the relevant subject with at least 45% marks, and a B.Ed. degree.
- Instructors: You need Class 10 pass, a 3-year Diploma in the relevant Engineering field, and at least 5 years of work experience in oil and gas fields.
Age Limit
Age is calculated as on 07 March 2026:
- Graduate Teachers (GT): 18 to 30 years
- Post Graduate Teachers (PGT): 18 to 32 years
- Instructors: 18 to 35 years
Age relaxation for reserved categories (SC, ST, OBC, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen) will apply as per government rules.
Salary
OIL follows IDA (Industrial Dearness Allowance) pay scales, not the Central Pay Commission (CPC) grade pay system.
- Graduate Teachers and Librarian (Grade-V): Pay Scale Rs. 32,000 – Rs. 1,27,000 per month
- Post Graduate Teachers and Instructors (Grade-VII): Pay Scale Rs. 37,500 – Rs. 1,45,000 per month
In addition to basic pay, you will get allowances like Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and other benefits as per OIL's rules.
Job Location
Selected candidates will be posted at OIL work centres in:
- Assam: Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Sivasagar, Charaideo districts
- Arunachal Pradesh: Changlang district
Selection Process
The selection will happen in three stages:
- Computer Based Test (CBT): Online written test (tentatively on 29 March 2026)
- Document Verification: Check of original certificates
- Medical Examination: Fitness test as per OIL standards

Responsibilities
- Teach students in the assigned subject at the school or training centre as per the curriculum
- Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, and assignments for students
- Conduct regular tests, evaluate answer sheets, and maintain student progress records
- Manage classroom discipline and create a positive learning environment
- Guide students in academic and extracurricular activities
- Attend staff meetings, parent-teacher meetings, and school events as required
- Follow OIL's school administration rules and reporting procedures
- For Librarian: Manage the library collection, cataloguing, and lending of books and resources
- For Instructors: Train students or trainees in practical skills related to Mechanical, Chemical, or Petroleum engineering
- For Instructors: Supervise hands-on training sessions and ensure safety standards are followed
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's Degree with B.Ed. (for Graduate Teachers); Bachelor's Degree in Library Science (for Librarian); Master's Degree with B.Ed. (for PG Teachers); Class 10 with 3-year Engineering Diploma (for Instructors)
Preferred Qualification
Master's Degree in relevant subject with 50% marks for PG Teachers; 5 years experience in oil and gas fields for Instructors
Required Skills
Subject knowledge in relevant discipline; Assamese language proficiency (Class 10 level) required for most Graduate Teacher posts; Computer knowledge
Age Limit
18 - 35 years (as on 07 Mar 2026)

Exam Pattern
The Computer Based Test (CBT) will have 100 questions for 100 marks. You will get 2 hours to complete it. All questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ). There is no negative marking.

- Section A – English, General Knowledge and OIL Knowledge: 20 marks (20%)
- Section B – Reasoning and Computer Knowledge: 20 marks (20%)
- Section C – Domain / Subject Knowledge: 60 marks (60%)
Qualifying Marks:
- UR / OBC / EWS candidates: Minimum 50% marks
- SC / ST / PwBD candidates: Minimum 40% marks
