Oil India Limited (OIL), a Maharatna PSU, is hiring 4 Contractual Chemist (Fields) for its Field Headquarters at Duliajan, Assam. Oil India Limited, the second-largest national upstream oil and gas company in India with a pan-India and global presence, has released Advertisement No. HRAQ/CONT-EX-B/26-295 dated 24 July 2026 to engage 4 Contractual Chemist (Fields) at its Duliajan Field Headquarters in Assam. The role involves shift-based work in remote and hazardous OIL installations, including on-call duty, and is purely contractual and temporary in nature. The initial contract will run for 1 year, extendable by another 1 year based on performance and requirement, for a maximum total of 2 years. This is a good opportunity for chemistry postgraduates with drilling fluid experience who want to work directly with a Maharatna PSU on well-site operations.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: Master's Degree in Chemistry of at least 2 years duration from a Government of India recognised University or Institute.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of post-qualification work experience handling drilling/workover fluids in the E&P industry (Drilling and Workover Wells).
  • Nationality: Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply, as on the date of registration.

Skills You Should Have:

  • Experience handling drilling/workover fluids and carrying out their laboratory analysis
  • Experience handling different types of chemicals used in drilling/workover fluids
  • Ability to address downhole complications in drilling/workover wells
  • Ability to generate daily well reports, downhole problem reports and cementing reports
  • Knowledge of MS Office and computer applications (desirable)
  • Good communication skills

Reservation (out of 4 posts): UR-2, SC-1, OBC(NCL)-1. PwBD suitability: Dwarfism and Acid Attack Victims category.

Age Limit

  • Minimum age: 18 years.
  • Maximum age: 45 years (General), 48 years (OBC-NCL), 50 years (SC) — calculated as on the date of registration for the Walk-in Interview.

Salary

  • Selected candidates will get total Contract Emoluments of Rs. 70,000 per month, made up of Fixed and Variable components.
  • You will also get an incidental allowance of Rs. 500 per day for actual days you work outside your place of posting.
  • Statutory benefits of Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) and Gratuity apply, and you will get 20 days of paid leave for every year of your contract.
  • Note: If you avail Maternity Leave during your contract, only the Fixed component of your emoluments will be paid for that period.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in the following stages:

  1. Document Verification: Your details are verified against original documents at the time of registration for the Walk-in Interview.
  2. Walk-in Interview: Total 100 marks, with a minimum qualifying score of 50 marks for all categories. You will be assessed on professional knowledge and skills in your discipline, allied-discipline knowledge, and personal attributes.
  3. Medical Fitness Certificate: Selected candidates must submit a fitness certificate from a government-registered medical practitioner before joining.

Final selection is purely merit-based on your interview marks. Selected candidates must also clear a police verification of character and antecedents before joining, and submit a Release Letter from their current employer, if applicable. During your contract, you cannot take up any other assignment, you may be posted to any OIL location as decided by the company, and you will need to arrange your own accommodation. This engagement does not create any claim for regular employment or absorption in Oil India Limited. OIL has also publicly warned candidates to beware of fraudulent job offers — the company does not authorise anyone to offer jobs on its behalf outside its official process.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as well-site chemist at drilling and workover well locations
  • Prepare and maintain drilling mud and workover brine solutions on site
  • Handle critical well situations such as pipe stuck, mud loss and well kick/blowout
  • Assist in well cementing operations
  • Carry out gas testing, calculate mud hydraulics, and monitor lithology of drill cuttings
  • Maintain adequate stock of drilling and workover fluid chemicals as per operational requirement
  • Enforce safety and pollution control measures during chemical activities at well sites
  • Prepare daily well reports and documentation on downhole problems and cementing operations

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

Master's Degree in Chemistry (minimum 2 years duration) from a Government of India recognised University/Institute

Required Skills

Handling drilling/workover fluids, laboratory analysis of drilling/workover fluids, MS Office and computer applications (desirable), good communication skills

Age Limit

18 - 45 years (as on 17 Aug 2026)

Age Relaxation:
