National Security Guard (NSG) Team Commander Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Directorate General, National Security Guard (NSG) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has released an Office Memorandum to fill 1 Group A (Non-Combatised) post of Team Commander (Senior Scientific Officer) on deputation basis. This is a deputation post — only serving officers of the Central Government, State Government, or Union Territory Administrations holding analogous posts can apply. The selected officer will be posted at NSG HQ, Mehramnagar, Palam, New Delhi.

Who Can Apply?

• Service condition: You must be holding an analogous post on a regular basis (Senior Scientific Officer in Pay Level 10 or above) in the Central Government, State Government, or UT Administration.
• Qualification: Master's degree in Chemistry from a recognised university or equivalent.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of working experience in explosives, firearms, or ammunition with the Central Government, State Government, or a recognised Research Laboratory.
• Medical: You must be medically fit in SHAPE-1 category.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 54 years (as on the closing date)
• Age relaxation is admissible as per Government of India deputation rules.

Salary

• Pay: Level-10 in the 7th CPC Pay Matrix (Rs. 56,100 - Rs. 1,77,500 per month).
• Basic pay and DA as admissible in the parent organisation pay matrix.
• NSG Allowance: 40% of basic pay.
• Other allowances as admissible to Central Government employees from time to time.
• Government accommodation or HRA in lieu thereof as admissible.

Period of Deputation

• Initial deputation period: 5 years
• Extendable as per DoPT guidelines.

Selection Process

There is no written exam for this deputation post. Selection is done in the following way:

1. Application Scrutiny: The Selection Committee will scrutinise the applications received through proper channel along with cadre clearance, vigilance clearance, APAR grading of the last 5 years, and medical category certificate.
2. Interaction with Selection Committee: Eligible candidates may be called for an interaction. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interaction.
3. Final selection based on suitability for deputation to NSG.

• Lead and supervise scientific operations related to explosives, firearms, and ammunition at NSG units
• Analyse and identify explosive substances and weapons recovered during operations
• Provide technical advice to operational teams on bomb disposal and post-blast investigations
• Maintain a high level of operational readiness with the SHAPE-1 medical fitness standard
• Train NSG personnel on chemical, explosive, and ammunition handling protocols
• Prepare technical reports for the command and assist in evidence preparation
• Coordinate with central and state agencies on scientific aspects of counter-terrorism work
