OFDR Project Engineer Recruitment 2026: Overview

Ordnance Factory Dehu Road (OFDR), a unit of Munitions India Limited, is engaging Graduate and Diploma Project Engineers for work at its defence-production facility in Dehu Road, Pune. The factory operates under the Ministry of Defence, and this drive covers the Chemical and Mechanical streams on a tenure basis rather than regular absorption.

The engagement begins as a one-year contract and may be renewed annually for up to a total of four years, depending on factory need and individual performance. The notice gives importance to former graduate apprentices who understand ordnance factories or the manufacture and handling of ammunition and explosives. If your apprenticeship did not cover that environment, deployment will follow the factory's required safety and technical-scrutiny training.

Posts and Disciplines

• Chemical: The stream is linked to chemical engineering or chemistry backgrounds and factory work involving ammunition, explosives and hazardous materials.
• Mechanical: The stream is for mechanical engineering backgrounds supporting the technical requirements of the Dehu Road production unit.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: Renewal is assessed each year and is not guaranteed; the engagement ends automatically after the maximum tenure.
• No absorption: The contract creates no commitment for a permanent Munitions India Limited appointment.
• Termination: Either side may end the engagement with one month's notice or the applicable basic pay plus IDA in place of notice.
• Vacancy variation: The factory may increase or reduce its requirement before completing the engagement process.
• Application limit: More than one application from the same person for a post can be rejected.
• Travel support: Eligible SC/ST candidates may claim second-class fare by the shortest route after producing the required ticket, community certificate and bank-details form.
• Communication: Only shortlisted candidates will receive interview information by post or email, and canvassing can disqualify an application.
• Medical readiness: Candidates called for document checks should be prepared to stay an additional day for the medical examination at their own cost.
