National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli (NIT Trichy) JRF/PA-I Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

NIT Tiruchirappalli has released a notification to hire a JRF or Project Associate-I for the ANRF-funded project "Renewable-Integrated Smart EV Charging Platform Featuring Reconfigurability, Interoperability, and Grid Interactive Management (RISE)" under Principal Investigator Dr. V. Vignesh Kumar. GATE-qualified candidates are appointed as JRF with a higher stipend, while non-GATE candidates join as PA-I. The project runs for 3 years and gives you hands-on experience in power converter design and EV charging research at a premier NIT. The RISE platform focuses on building EV charging infrastructure that can reconfigure itself, talk to other chargers and the grid (interoperability), and interact intelligently with the power grid for better energy management.

As part of this role, you will be involved in power converter design, simulation and hardware fabrication, control method implementation on digital platforms, and testing/validation of prototypes. You will also help with purchasing project equipment and writing technical reports and research articles, giving you well-rounded exposure to both the research and execution side of a funded engineering project.

Who Can Apply?

This position is open only to Indian Nationals. Before appearing for the interview, make sure you meet the eligibility criteria for the specific position (JRF or PA-I) you intend to apply for.

For JRF (GATE Qualified - Rs. 37,000-42,000/month):

• You need a B.E./B.Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or an M.E./M.Tech in Power Electronics, Power Electronics & Drives, Control Systems, or Power Systems, or a closely related specialization.
• A valid GATE score is required for this category.

For PA-I (Without GATE - Rs. 30,000-33,000/month):

• The same educational qualification as JRF applies (B.E./B.Tech in EEE or M.E./M.Tech in Power Electronics and related fields), but a GATE score is not mandatory.
• Candidates with an M.E./M.Tech in Power Electronics are preferred for this post.

Age Limit

• For JRF: you should be under 35 years old, with age relaxation as per GOI norms.
• For PA-I: the age limit is 50 years.

Salary

• JRF (GATE qualified): Rs. 37,000 per month for the first two years, rising to Rs. 42,000 per month in the third year on satisfactory performance, with a possible upgrade to Senior Research Fellow.
• PA-I (Non-GATE): Rs. 30,000 per month for the first two years, rising to Rs. 33,000 per month in the third year, with a possible upgrade to PA-II.
• You may also register for an M.S. (By Research) or Ph.D. programme at NIT Trichy, subject to institute rules.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

NIT Trichy will select candidates through a single stage:

1. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be informed only by email. The interview will be held during the second week of August 2026 at NIT Tiruchirappalli. Bring your original certificates for verification - no TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.

Preference is given to candidates with a good academic record, research potential, and relevant experience. The selection committee's decision is final.
