National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) has released a notification to fill 18 Temporary Faculty posts for one semester starting July 2026. These are short-term teaching positions that cover the academic load in departments like Management Studies, Mathematics, English, Economics and the Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems. There is no written exam — selection is only through an interview. This is a good chance for Ph.D. holders, thesis-submitted scholars and industry experts who want to teach at a top NIT.

Who Can Apply?

You must have first class in both your UG and PG (60% marks or 6.5/10 CGPA if the grade is not written on the certificate). The exact qualification depends on the department:

CIEI:

• Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship, Management, Industrial Engineering or a related area with at least 2 years of experience.

Management Studies:

• Ph.D. in Finance, Operations, Analytics or Management, or industry personnel with an MBA in Finance/Analytics/Operations or M.Tech in Industrial Engineering from a reputed institution.

English:

• Ph.D. in English or English Language Teaching with a Master's in English or a related language/literature field.

Mathematics:

• Ph.D. in Mathematics or Statistics.

German:

• UG and PG degrees in German with fluency in speaking and writing, or DALF/DSH-B2 with a Master's in any subject.

Economics:

• Ph.D. in Economics with a Master's in Economics/Finance/Commerce, or industry personnel with an MBA in Finance.

Chemical Engineering:

• Ph.D. in Electrical Sciences or Electrical Energy Systems.

Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems (CIKS):

• Ph.D. in Indian Knowledge Systems, Sanskrit, Indian Philosophy, Vedic Studies, Ayurveda/Yoga or a related field. Proficiency in reading, writing and speaking Sanskrit is a must.

Candidates who have submitted their Ph.D. thesis can also apply. Those who have already served NITC as ad-hoc/temporary faculty for about 5 semesters are not eligible.

Salary

• Ph.D. degree holders (Full Time): Rs. 70,000 per month (consolidated).
• Ph.D. thesis submitted or PG degree holders (Full Time): Rs. 58,000 per month (consolidated).
• Part-time faculty: Rs. 1,500 per hour.
• This is a fixed consolidated pay. No other allowances (DA, HRA, TA) are given.

Application Fee

• General / OBC-NCL / EWS: Rs. 1,000 (Rs. 500 registration + Rs. 500 application).
• SC / ST / PwBD / Female candidates: Rs. 500 (registration only, no application fee).
• Payment mode: online. The fee is non-refundable.
• If you apply for more than one department, you must submit a separate application and fee for each.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based only on an interview:

1. Shortlisting: Eligible candidates are shortlisted and informed by email only.
2. Interview: You may be asked to give a presentation on your area of specialization. Report to the concerned department at 8:00 am on the interview date.
3. Document Verification: Bring all original certificates for checking.

No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview. Please arrange your own travel and stay.

• Support the department in academic and examination-related duties.
