About This Job

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), under the Ministry of Home Affairs, is hiring 3 Superintendent (Cyber) officers at NCB Headquarters, New Delhi on deputation including Short Term Contract (STC) basis. The post carries pay in Level-8 (Rs. 47,600 - Rs. 1,51,100). This is an open vacancy circular — applications are accepted on a continuous basis until posts are filled.

The Narcotics Control Bureau is India's apex drug law enforcement agency. If you are a serving government officer with a background in cyber security, digital forensics or computer engineering, this is your chance to join NCB and work on high-impact cybercrime and narcotics investigations from the headquarters in New Delhi.

Who Can Apply?

Officers working under the Central Government, State Governments, Union Territories, Autonomous/Statutory Organizations, PSUs or recognised universities are eligible.

  • Service level: Holding analogous posts on regular basis; or 2 years' service in Level-7; or 6 years' service in Level-6 of the pay matrix
  • Essential qualification: Master's Degree in Cyber Security Forensics/Digital Forensics; or MCA/M.Sc Computer Science; or M.Tech (Computer Application); or B.E./B.Tech in Computer Engineering/Computer Science/Computer Technology/CSE/IT/Computer Application/Electronics/ECE
  • Experience: 2 years' experience in digital foot printing (CDR, IPDR analysis, web crawling, Python, social engineering, reverse engineering) and digital forensics (write blocker, imaging, deleted data extraction, network forensics, data recovery, digital evidence handling)
  • Desirable: Certificate course in CompTIA, Dark Web, Blockchain, Social Media Monitoring or Crypto Analysis

Age Limit

  • Maximum age: 56 years as on the last date of receipt of applications
  • Applicable for appointment by deputation as per DoPT norms

Salary

  • Pay Level: Level-8 of 7th CPC Pay Matrix
  • Pay range: Rs. 47,600 - Rs. 1,51,100 per month
  • Pre-revised: PB-2 Rs. 9,300-34,800 + Grade Pay Rs. 4,800
  • Plus DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as admissible to Central Government employees posted at New Delhi

Selection Process

  1. Screening of applications by NCB based on eligibility, qualifications and experience
  2. Selection Committee review of Bio-data, APARs, Vigilance Clearance, Integrity Certificate and Cadre Clearance
  3. No written exam — selection is purely on merit of service record and cyber expertise

Responsibilities

  • Handle cybercrime and digital evidence investigations linked to narcotics cases at NCB HQ
  • Perform digital foot printing including CDR and IPDR analysis, web crawling and indexing
  • Conduct digital forensic examinations using write blockers, imaging tools and data recovery techniques
  • Monitor dark web, social media and crypto transactions for drug trafficking intelligence
  • Extract and analyse deleted data and perform network forensics on seized devices
  • Maintain proper chain of custody and digital evidence handling procedures
  • Assist investigating officers with technical reports admissible in court
  • Coordinate with I4C, NCRB and other cyber agencies on joint operations

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

B.E./B.Tech in Computer Engineering/CSE/IT/Electronics or Master's in Cyber Security/Digital Forensics/MCA/M.Sc Computer Science/M.Tech from a recognised University

Preferred Qualification

Certificate course in CompTIA, Dark Web, Blockchain, Social Media Monitoring or Crypto Analysis
