NJB Consultant and Young Professional Recruitment 2026: Overview
National Jute Board (NJB), a statutory body under the Ministry of Textiles, is building a mixed team of Consultants and Young Professionals for its Kolkata and New Delhi offices. The drive combines experienced retired government-sector specialists with early-career professionals in finance, marketing and textile technology. Consultants are engaged for one year and Young Professionals for two years, with both groups working on a purely contractual basis.
Posts and Disciplines
- Consultant Administration and Establishment: based at Patsan Bhawan in Kolkata and aligned with government administration and establishment work.
- Consultant Civil Engineer: a Kolkata-based engineering assignment for someone with long experience handling comparable public-sector matters.
- Consultant Finance and Economic Services: a Kolkata role connected with the board's finance and economic-services work.
- Consultant Market Promotion and Scheme Implementation: a Kolkata assignment supporting the board's market-facing programmes and scheme delivery.
- Young Professional Finance and Economic Services: a Kolkata role for qualified finance, accounts and audit professionals.
- Young Professional Market Promotion and Scheme Implementation: a Kolkata role spanning marketing, product positioning, exports, trade, supply chains or retail.
- Young Professional Technology and Technical: a New Delhi assignment linked to textiles, jute, agricultural research, product development and technology transfer.
Post-wise Duties
Administration, Civil Engineering and Finance Consultants
The Consultant streams bring senior public-service experience to the board's administration, engineering and financial work. You will handle matters comparable to the discipline named in your application and provide accountable professional advice during the engagement.
Market Promotion and Scheme Implementation Consultant
This stream supports NJB's market-promotion and scheme work. Your assignment will stay within the advertised discipline, drawing on the experience you gained in government, an autonomous body or a public-sector undertaking.
Young Professional Finance and Economic Services
You will contribute your finance, accounts and audit background to the board's finance and economic-services work. The role is designed for professionals with post-qualification experience rather than apprenticeship, internship or traineeship alone.
Young Professional Market Promotion and Scheme Implementation
You will support market promotion and programme delivery using experience in areas such as product positioning, export promotion, foreign trade, supply-chain management or retail. Jute or textile-sector exposure is preferred within the experience profile described by the notice.
Young Professional Technology and Technical
You will bring a textile or jute-technology perspective to the New Delhi office. The advertised experience areas include textiles, jute, agribusiness, agricultural research, research and development, product development, technology improvement and technology transfer.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Nature of engagement: These are fixed-term contractual roles, not regular appointments.
- Consultant health certificate: Consultants must provide a certificate of good health from a registered physician before starting the assignment.
- Notice period: Either party may end a Consultant engagement with 15 days' notice or payment instead of notice; NJB may waive notice for serious performance or conduct failures.
- Confidentiality and ownership: The Official Secrets Act applies, and data and deliverables produced during the assignment remain with NJB.
- Travel for selection: The board does not provide TA or DA for the written test or personal interview.
- Multiple positions: You must send a separate application for each position if you want to be considered for more than one role.
