Selection Process

The recruitment follows a two-stage selection process. First, you will sit for an OMR-based objective-type written examination with negative marking. Candidates who clear the written test — up to three times the number of vacancies based on merit — move on to the interview round. Your final rank will depend on the combined score from both stages, followed by document verification.

Preparation Tips

  1. Master the core BVSc subjects — focus on Veterinary Medicine, Surgery, Animal Husbandry, and Dairy Science as these form the backbone of the objective paper
  2. Practice with OMR sheets — the exam uses physical OMR answer sheets, so get comfortable with bubble-filling and time management under exam conditions
  3. Be cautious with negative marking — avoid random guessing since wrong answers will cost you marks; attempt only questions you are reasonably confident about
  4. Check previous year papers — MPPSC publishes past question papers on their official website, which will give you a clear picture of the difficulty level and question pattern
  5. Stay updated on current affairs in animal husbandry — government schemes, livestock census data, and recent policy changes in the veterinary sector often appear in such exams

Responsibilities

  • Provide veterinary medical services including diagnosis, treatment, and surgical care for livestock and animals
  • Implement government animal husbandry schemes and programmes at the district and block level
  • Conduct vaccination drives, disease surveillance, and epidemic control measures
  • Supervise veterinary hospitals, dispensaries, and extension centres
  • Advise farmers and livestock owners on animal health management, breeding, and nutrition
  • Maintain records and submit periodic reports on animal health indicators to higher authorities
  • Coordinate with state and central agencies on livestock development initiatives
