IIT Indore Junior Research Fellow Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Indore (IIT Indore) is engaging a Junior Research Fellow for an Anusandhan National Research Foundation Advanced Research Grant project. The team is developing an affordable lower-limb prosthetic using military-grade carbon-fibre-reinforced polymer and aluminium-alloy components. Its central challenge is to replace costly conventional fabrication with high-speed electromagnetic forming and joining while retaining a light, durable design suitable for amputees in low-resource settings.

The role sits at the intersection of mechanical design, manufacturing, materials science and assistive technology. You should be interested in turning research concepts into manufacturable components, testing how dissimilar materials behave during joining, and using evidence from experiments or simulations to improve the design. The project is especially relevant if your earlier work involved metal forming, welding, mechatronics, production engineering or data acquisition.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Initial tenure: The appointment begins for one year and may be extended by another year based on your performance. Extension is not automatic and remains tied to the funded project.
• Research pathway: A selected fellow may be considered for admission to the IIT Indore PhD programme as a regular full-time scholar, subject to the institute's admission rules.

Your write-up can explain past research, a relevant project, your future research idea, or your literature-based view of this prosthetics project.
