HPPSC Deputy Director Recruitment 2026: Overview

Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) is recruiting Deputy Director, Sainik Welfare as a Class-I Gazetted Group-A Job Trainee for the state Department of Sainik Welfare. The role is designed for retired or released commissioned officers who can bring defence-service experience into district-level welfare administration. The engagement is governed by Himachal Pradesh's Job Trainee scheme rather than the regular civil-service appointment framework.

The work sits at the meeting point of government administration and support for the ex-servicemen community. Your military command background will be relevant when coordinating welfare cases, maintaining disciplined office systems and working with state and district authorities. Knowledge of Himachal Pradesh's customs, manners and dialects is desirable because the post serves people across the state's local communities.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Job Trainee scheme: The recruitment and engagement follow the state Personnel Department scheme and later instructions issued under it.
  • Reservation: The notified positions are for Himachal Pradesh ex-servicemen categories. Reserved-category benefits are limited to bona fide Himachal Pradesh residents with valid supporting certificates.
  • Outside-state status: Reserved-category candidates from another state are treated as unreserved candidates and do not receive Himachal Pradesh reservation benefits.
  • Government employees: A serving government employee must inform the head of office and produce the required no-objection certificate for the personality test.
  • Application accuracy: Once the online form is finally submitted, ordinary corrections are not available, so check every field and uploaded scan carefully.
  • Examination venue: Shimla is listed as the examination city, but HPPSC may change or allocate centres according to test-lab availability within Himachal Pradesh.
  • Entry rule: Examination-venue entry closes 30 minutes before the scheduled start.
  • Legal jurisdiction: Any dispute connected with the recruitment is subject to the courts at Shimla.

Application Submission Notes

You need an One Time Registration profile on the HPPSC portal before choosing the live Deputy Director advertisement. The form is accepted online only, and the application is treated as complete after the required scans and declaration are submitted.

Upload clear, readable files and inspect the preview before final submission. HPPSC can reject unreadable or incomplete uploads, and original certificates must be produced when called for the personality test. Keep your OTR user ID and password safe because the Commission uses the account for application status, notices and e-admit-card access.

Use a working mobile number and email address for alerts from the Commission. Do not wait until the final hours to pay online or upload documents, since an incomplete form or invalid payment mode is rejected.

Responsibilities

  • Lead district-level Sainik Welfare administration and office operations
  • Guide ex-servicemen and their families on welfare cases and services
  • Coordinate welfare matters with state, district and defence authorities
  • Review case records, official reports and programme implementation
