About This Job

The Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) is hiring Assistant Professors in Zoology for government colleges across Madhya Pradesh under the Higher Education Department. MPPSC Assistant Professor Zoology Recruitment 2026

MPPSC is the constitutional body that recruits gazetted officers and college faculty for the Government of Madhya Pradesh. This notification is part of the state-wide Assistant Professor drive 2026 covering 15 subjects across MP government colleges. Applications opened on 17 April 2026 through the MPOnline portal.

Who Can Apply?

  • Educational Qualification: Master's Degree in Zoology with a minimum of 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC/PwD/EWS) from a UGC-recognised university.
  • NET / SET / PhD: You must have cleared UGC NET, CSIR NET, or MP SET / SLET. PhD holders following UGC 2009 / 2016 regulations are exempt from NET / SET.
  • Domicile: Reservation benefits apply only to permanent residents of Madhya Pradesh; candidates from other states will be treated as Unreserved.

Age Limit

  • Minimum age: 21 years
  • Maximum age: 40 years (as on 1 January 2026)
  • Age relaxation: Up to 5 years for SC / ST / OBC / EWS candidates of MP, women candidates, government employees, and PwD candidates as per MP government rules.

Salary

  • Pay Level: Academic Level 10 of the 7th Pay Commission
  • Starting basic pay: Rs. 57,700 per month
  • Allowances: Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Transport Allowance, and other benefits as per MP government rules
  • Total in-hand: Roughly Rs. 80,000+ per month after allowances at the city of posting

Selection Process

  1. Written Examination: Two-paper offline exam. Paper 1 covers MP general studies, history, geography, current affairs (50 questions). Paper 2 is the subject paper on Zoology.
  2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for an interview of 100 marks.
  3. Final Merit: Based on combined performance in the written exam and interview.
  4. Document Verification: Qualifications, NET / SET certificate, domicile, and category proof are checked before the final appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate Zoology courses in government colleges of Madhya Pradesh.
  • Prepare lesson plans, lab manuals, and assessments aligned with the university syllabus.
  • Conduct practical sessions, dissection labs, and field studies for students.
  • Guide student research projects, dissertations, and seminar presentations.
  • Take part in college committees, admissions, examinations, and value-added programmes.
  • Publish research papers and contribute to academic conferences in Zoology.
  • Mentor students for higher studies, NET, and competitive examinations.
  • Follow UGC and Higher Education Department guidelines on attendance, evaluation, and curriculum delivery.

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

Master's Degree in Zoology with at least 55% marks (50% for reserved categories) from a recognised university, plus UGC NET / CSIR NET / SET / SLET. PhD holders as per UGC regulations are exempt from NET / SET.

Preferred Qualification

PhD in Zoology with research publications in UGC-CARE listed journals.

Required Skills

Subject expertise in Zoology, classroom teaching, laboratory and dissection skills, research aptitude, knowledge of UGC academic regulations.

Exam Pattern

The MPPSC Assistant Professor exam is conducted offline (OMR-based) with two papers:

  • Paper 1 — General Studies (MP focus): 50 questions on history, MP cultural heritage, Indian and World geography, economics, polity, and current affairs.
  • Paper 2 — Zoology subject paper: Concept-based questions on the specialisation as per the official Zoology syllabus on mppsc.mp.gov.in.
