About This Job
MPPSC is hiring Assistant Professors in Botany for government colleges across Madhya Pradesh under the Higher Education Department. MPPSC Assistant Professor Botany Recruitment 2026
Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission is the constitutional body that recruits gazetted officers and college faculty for the Government of Madhya Pradesh. This Botany notification is part of the Assistant Professor recruitment drive 2025 (Advt. No. 25/2025, dated 30 December 2025) covering multiple subjects across MP government colleges. Applications opened on 17 April 2026 through the MPOnline portal.
Who Can Apply?
- Educational Qualification: Master's Degree in Botany with a minimum of 55% marks (or equivalent CGPA) from a UGC-recognised university. Reserved-category candidates of MP get a 5% relaxation in marks as per UGC rules.
- NET / SET / PhD: You must have cleared UGC NET, CSIR NET, or MP SET / SLET. PhD holders following UGC 2009 / 2016 regulations are exempt from NET / SET.
- Domicile: Reservation benefits apply only to permanent residents of Madhya Pradesh; candidates from other states will be treated as Unreserved.
Age Limit
- Minimum age: 21 years
- Maximum age: 40 years (as on 1 January 2026)
- Age relaxation: Up to 5 years for SC / ST / OBC / EWS candidates of MP, women candidates, MP government employees, and PwD candidates as per MP government rules.
Salary
- Pay Level: Academic Level 10 of the 7th Pay Commission
- Starting basic pay: Rs. 57,700 per month
- Allowances: Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Transport Allowance, and other benefits as per MP government rules
- Total in-hand: Roughly Rs. 80,000+ per month after allowances at the city of posting

Selection Process
- Written Examination (OMR-based): Two-paper offline exam. Paper 1 covers MP general studies (history, geography, current affairs) and Paper 2 is the Botany subject paper.
- Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for an interview worth 100 marks.
- Document Verification: Qualifications, NET / SET certificate, domicile, and category proof are checked before appointment.
- Final Merit: Based on combined performance in the written exam and the interview.

Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate Botany courses in government colleges of Madhya Pradesh
- Prepare lesson plans, lab manuals, and assessments aligned with the university syllabus
- Conduct practical sessions, plant taxonomy labs, and field botany trips for students
- Guide student research projects, dissertations, and seminar presentations in plant sciences
- Take part in college committees, admissions, examinations, and value-added programmes
- Publish research papers in peer-reviewed Botany journals and present at academic conferences
- Mentor students for higher studies, NET, GATE, and other competitive exams
- Follow UGC and Higher Education Department guidelines on attendance, evaluation, and curriculum delivery
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
Master's Degree in Botany with at least 55% marks (50% for reserved categories of MP) from a UGC-recognised university, plus UGC NET / CSIR NET / SET / SLET. PhD holders as per UGC 2009/2016 regulations are exempt from NET / SET.
Preferred Qualification
PhD in Botany with research publications in UGC-CARE listed journals
Required Skills
Subject expertise in Botany (plant taxonomy, physiology, ecology, molecular biology), classroom teaching, laboratory and field study skills, research aptitude, knowledge of UGC academic regulations
