Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) has released Advertisement No. 35/2025 for the recruitment of 71 Assistant Director posts in the Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development Department (Field and Extension). This is a Gazetted Class-II (Rajpatrit Dwitiya Shreni) permanent position under the Madhya Pradesh State Government. The post involves field-level agriculture extension work, crop propagation, and implementation of departmental agricultural schemes across Madhya Pradesh. Who Can Apply?
- Qualification: You must have a B.Sc. (Agriculture) in First or Second Division, along with a Postgraduate degree (M.Sc.) or Doctorate in an Indian Agricultural Science/Research discipline. Alternatively, you can have a Postgraduate degree or Doctorate in Agricultural Engineering from a recognized Indian university.
- Accepted Degrees: B.Sc. Agriculture with M.Sc. or Ph.D. in any branch of Agricultural Science, OR a Postgraduate/Doctorate in Agricultural Engineering (equivalent to the former Second Division of the MP Agriculture Department as per Government Order No. E-1-E-128-97-14-1 dated 09 November 2007).
- Domicile: Candidates from all states of India can apply, but reserved category benefits are available only to Madhya Pradesh domicile candidates.
Candidates whose disability certificate was issued before 01.06.2021 must get their certificate updated from the designated portal at http://www.swavlambancard.gov.in. After the Disability Rights Act amendment, the disability threshold is 40% or more.
Age Limit
- You should be between 21 and 40 years old as on 01 January 2026.
- SC/ST/OBC (MP Domicile): Maximum age relaxed by 5 years (up to 45 years).
- PwD (Persons with Disabilities): Upper age limit relaxed as per MP Government rules.
- Ex-Servicemen (Madhya Pradesh): Relaxation as per MP Government Circular No. C-3/10/85/3/1 dated 04 July 2019. Additional 5 years for SC/ST/OBC categories.

Salary
- Selected candidates will get a salary in Pay Band PB-2: Rs. 15,600 to Rs. 39,100 per month with Grade Pay of Rs. 5,400 (6th CPC).
- Under the 7th Pay Commission (Pay Level 10), the basic pay starts from Rs. 56,100 per month and goes up to Rs. 1,77,500 per month.
- You will also receive Dearness Allowance (DA) at the current rate of 55%, House Rent Allowance (HRA), Travel Allowance (TA), and other allowances as per Madhya Pradesh Government rules.
- Your estimated in-hand salary at entry level will be approximately Rs. 85,000 to Rs. 1,00,000 per month including all allowances.

Selection Process
The selection will be done through a single-stage process:
- Written Examination (OMR-Based): An objective-type (MCQ) examination will be conducted on 22 November 2026. The exam will include negative marking (deduction for wrong answers). Questions will cover agriculture extension, crop propagation, and related departmental subjects. The exam will be conducted in offline mode (pen and paper) at centres in Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, and other cities.
- Document Verification: Candidates who qualify the written exam will be called for document verification. All original certificates must be produced at this stage.
The exam syllabus, pattern, and marks distribution will be published on the MPPSC website at www.mppsc.mp.gov.in. Answer keys will be released after the exam, and candidates can raise objections by paying Rs. 150 per question (non-refundable). Objections on response sheets cost Rs. 40 per entry.

Responsibilities
- Supervise agriculture extension activities at the block and district level, ensuring that government farming schemes reach every eligible farmer in Madhya Pradesh.
- Plan and implement crop improvement programs, seed distribution drives, and fertilizer management strategies for the assigned region.
- Guide field staff and Krishi Vistar Adhikaris (Agricultural Extension Officers) in conducting farmer awareness campaigns and training workshops.
- Monitor crop health, pest outbreaks, and soil conditions in the assigned area and coordinate with research institutions for solutions.
- Prepare periodic reports on agricultural output, scheme implementation progress, and budget utilization for submission to higher authorities.
- Coordinate with district administration, Krishi Vigyan Kendras, and agricultural universities for technology transfer and farmer skill development.
- Handle administrative duties including staff management, office correspondence, budget planning, and procurement of agricultural inputs for the department.
