About This Job

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) is hiring 5 Consultants on a contract basis for its Sustainable Coastal Management (SCM) Division in New Delhi. If you have a Master's degree or B.E./B.Tech in Environmental Science, Marine Science, or a related field, you can apply. The salary goes up to Rs. 1,75,000 per month depending on the post. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has released Vacancy Circular F. No. 10020/13/2022-SCMD to engage 5 Consultants for the National Coastal Mission 2.0 under its Sustainable Coastal Management Division. This includes three Scientific Consultant posts and two Non-Scientific posts. There is no written exam — selection is done through an interview. The engagement is for an initial period of three years (1+1+1), extendable based on performance.

Who Can Apply?

Scientific Consultant Grade-IV (Rs. 1,75,000/month)

• Master's degree in Environmental Science / Environmental Engineering / Marine Science / Marine Engineering / Water Resources, or B.E./B.Tech.
• Experience: more than 20 years in the relevant field. Ph.D, M.Phil, M.Tech, or M.Sc holders are preferred.

Scientific Consultant Grade-II (Rs. 1,20,000/month)

• Same essential qualification as Grade-IV.
• Experience: more than 10 and up to 16 years in reputed institutions. Preference for those with a PG in GeoInformatics, Geospatial Science, Remote Sensing & GIS.

Scientific Consultant Grade-I (Rs. 90,000/month)

• Same essential qualification as above.
• Experience: more than 5 and up to 10 years in reputed institutions.

Non-Scientific Consultant-A (Rs. 60,000/month)

• Master's degree or B.E./B.Tech as minimum, or a retired Government employee with grade pay of Rs. 4,600 and above with MS Office knowledge.
• Experience: more than 3 and up to 5 years in the relevant field.

Non-Scientific Research Associate (Rs. 40,000/month)

• Master's degree in Environmental Science / Environmental Engineering, or B.E./B.Tech as minimum.
• Experience: 1 to 3 years in the relevant field.

Good computer skills and MS Office knowledge are needed for all posts. Up to 3 years can be counted as experience for Ph.D holders.

Age Limit

• Scientific Consultant Grade-IV: up to 62 years
• Scientific Consultant Grade-II: up to 45 years
• Scientific Consultant Grade-I: up to 40 years
• Non-Scientific Consultant-A: up to 65 years
• Non-Scientific Research Associate: up to 65 years

Salary

• Scientific Consultant Grade-IV: Rs. 1,75,000 per month
• Scientific Consultant Grade-II: Rs. 1,20,000 per month
• Scientific Consultant Grade-I: Rs. 90,000 per month
• Non-Scientific Consultant-A: Rs. 60,000 per month
• Non-Scientific Research Associate: Rs. 40,000 per month
• The pay is a consolidated amount inclusive of all taxes. No DA, HRA, or other allowances are paid. An annual increment of 0-8% may be given based on performance.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is done through a single stage:

1. Interview: Only shortlisted candidates are called for an interview based on their qualification and experience. The interview may be held in virtual or physical mode. No TA/DA is paid for attending.

• Provide technical expertise on coastal ecosystems, marine biodiversity, and coastal zone management
• Appraise and evaluate project reports, DPRs, and technical proposals under National Coastal Mission 2.0
• Support preparation of Integrated Coastal Zone Management Plans (ICZMPs) and Coastal & Marine Spatial Plans
• Coordinate coral reef conservation and biosphere management with Andaman, Nicobar, and Lakshadweep administrations
• Prepare technical guidelines, frameworks, manuals, policy briefs, and progress reports
• Coordinate beach cleaning activities, workshops, training, and capacity-building programmes
• Assist in preparing responses to Parliament Questions, RTI matters, and audit observations
• Maintain project documentation, records, and the knowledge repository for the Mission
