Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Consultant (EP&W Division) Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has invited applications for 1 Consultant post in the Emigration Policy & Welfare (EP&W) Division under Advertisement No. Q/PF/575/76/2024. This is a contractual position for 1 year, extendable based on performance and mutual agreement. The role focuses on India's emigration and mobility policies, including coordination of bilateral and multilateral mobility arrangements. Who Can Apply?

• Nationality: Only Indian nationals can apply.
• Qualification: You need a Master's Degree or Graduate Degree from a reputed Indian or international university, with migration-related issues as part of the syllabus.
• Skills: Good writing, analytical skills, and speaking skills in English plus any foreign language are needed. You must also be proficient in computers.
• Health: You should be of sound health.

Work Experience (any one of the following):

• Master's Degree in emigration-related issues plus 5 years of experience in Government
• OR Retired Government of India officers at Under Secretary / Deputy Secretary / Director level (preferably from MEA)
• OR 1-2 years of working in Government (preferably in MEA) with preference for experience on migration-related issues

Desirable Qualifications:

• Ph.D. from a reputed Indian or international university, preferably on international migration issues
• Work experience with international organisations, UN agencies, think tanks, or research institutions

Age Limit

• You should be between 28 and 63 years old as on 28 April 2026 (last date of application).

Salary

• The salary will be based on your experience and profile, up to a maximum of Rs. 10,00,000 per annum (approximately Rs. 83,333 per month).
• For retired Government of India officers, pay will follow Department of Expenditure norms.
• Note: No HRA, Provident Fund, Pension, Gratuity, or Medical benefits are provided. This is a purely contractual engagement.
• If you need to travel for work, the Ministry will cover travel, accommodation, and per-diem costs.

Selection Process

Selection will be done in the following stages:

1. Shortlisting: MEA will review all applications and shortlist candidates based on eligibility and experience.
2. Interview / Written Test: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview or written test. The date, time, and venue will be sent by email.
3. Document Verification: You will need to present original documents at the time of interview.

No TA/DA will be paid by the Ministry for attending the interview. You need to make your own travel arrangements.

• Coordinate all mobility and migration matters handled by the EP&W Division
• Research and prepare analytical reports on developments in the mobility ecosystem
• Provide strategic inputs on policy formulation related to mobility and migration arrangements
• Work with other Government of India departments, MEA divisions, Indian Missions abroad, and foreign governments
• Assist in organising and managing logistics for high-level events and follow-up actions
• Attend seminars, meetings, and conferences relevant to the Ministry and prepare detailed reports
• Prepare briefs, background notes, and reports on assigned subjects or meetings
