Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL), a Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Railways, has released Notification No. CO/P-R/7C/2026 dated 14 May 2026. The recruitment is for the VDPD (Vadlapudi) Wagon Repair Workshop at Gajuwaka, Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. This is a fixed-term contract job for an initial period of one year, extendable up to 5 years based on performance. Who Can Apply?

Junior Technical Assistant / Mechanical (11 posts)

• Qualification: Full-time Degree or Diploma in Mechanical / Production & Industrial / Automobile / Manufacturing / Mechatronic / Material Sciences / Metallurgical Engineering from a recognised AICTE university or institute.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year post-qualification experience. Preference for repair workshop or manufacturing experience.

Quality Inspector (15 posts)

• Qualification: Full-time Degree in Mechanical / Production & Industrial / Automobile / Manufacturing / Mechatronic / Material Sciences / Metallurgical Engineering from AICTE-approved institute.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year in Inspection / QA. Preference for railway rolling stock experience.

Technician (Welder) (16 posts)

• Qualification: ITI in Welding or Welder qualification test certificate as per ISO-9006-1.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year post-qualification experience in mechanical industry.

Technician (Fitter) (22 posts)

• Qualification: ITI Certificate from a recognised ITI / Technical Training Institute or any Government approved authority.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year post-qualification experience in mechanical industry.

Technician (EOT Operator) (16 posts)

• Qualification: 10th Pass (compulsory) OR ITI Certificate from a recognised authority.
• Experience: 2 years EOT crane operation experience for ITI holders; 4 years for 10th pass candidates.

Vehicle Driver (4 posts)

• Qualification: 10th Pass and a valid HMV Driving Licence issued by RTO.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience.

Lister / Forklift Operator (14 posts)

• Qualification: ITI Certificate from a recognised institute.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years in Forklift and lister truck operation. Must obtain a valid Forklift driving licence within 3 months of appointment.

Hydra Operator (2 posts)

• Qualification: ITI Certificate from a recognised institute.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years in Hydra operation. Valid Hydra driving licence must be obtained within 3 months of appointment.

Office Boy / Helper / Khalasi (32 posts)

• Qualification: Minimum 10th standard and physically fit for general office duty, housekeeping and maintenance.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 50 years as on 01 May 2026.
• OBC (NCL): 3 years relaxation
• SC / ST: 5 years relaxation
• Ex-Servicemen: Age relaxation is at the discretion of KRCL.

Salary

Consolidated monthly remuneration (inclusive of Basic, DA, HRA, Conveyance and Mobile allowance). The amount depends on city class:

• Junior Technical Assistant / Mechanical: Rs. 47,220 (Class A) / Rs. 44,300 (Class B) / Rs. 41,380 (Class C)
• Quality Inspector, Technicians, Vehicle Driver, Lister/Forklift Operator, Hydra Operator: Rs. 30,900 (Class A) / Rs. 29,000 (Class B) / Rs. 27,100 (Class C)
• Office Boy / Helper / Khalasi: Rs. 29,300 (Class A) / Rs. 27,500 (Class B) / Rs. 25,700 (Class C)
• Annual increase of 4% on the consolidated remuneration after every completed year, subject to KRCL discretion.
• Other benefits: Insurance, Gratuity and Bonus as per the New Labour Code 2026; Complimentary Railway Pass on duty; KRCL Rest House when available; 15 days earned leave after every 6 months.

Selection Process

The selection is done in the following way:

1. Walk-in Interview: You must reach the venue between 09:00 hrs and 12:00 hrs on your post's interview date with the filled application (Annexure-A) and original certificates.
2. Preliminary Screening: Applications are screened first and only provisionally eligible candidates are interviewed.
3. Elimination Round (if needed): If the candidate count is high, a Group Discussion or written test may be used to shortlist.
4. Interview by Nominated Committee: Final merit is based on interview performance, qualification and post-qualification experience.
5. Medical Examination: Selected candidates must clear a prescribed medical exam before joining.

The decision of the Nominated Committee is final and binding.

• Carry out repair and maintenance of wagons, rolling stock and components at the VDPD (Vadlapudi) Workshop.
• Handle welding, fitting, machining and POH/NPOH activities as per RDSO specifications and IRS standards.
• Inspect rolling stock, detect defects and maintain quality records and CAPA documentation.
• Operate EOT cranes, forklifts, lister trucks and hydra cranes for safe material handling.
• Drive staff cars, inspection vehicles and ambulances and maintain logbooks of fuel and trips.
• Assist senior technicians during repair and overhaul of wagons, wheel sets, bogies and alternators.
• Maintain workshop housekeeping, tools, machines and proper waste disposal.
• Follow safety protocols, attend emergencies and complete any other duties assigned by the controlling officer.
