King George's Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow has released Advertisement Notice No. 29/Rectt/2026 dated 16 May 2026 for 83 faculty vacancies across more than 45 medical and allied departments plus the College of Nursing. The drive covers Professor, Professor Junior Grade (Additional Professor), Associate Professor, Assistant Professor and Tutor posts. This is a Special Recruitment Drive for reserved category (SC/ST/OBC) candidates only, open exclusively to candidates with Uttar Pradesh domicile. Only offline applications will be accepted, with a mandatory Google Form submission.

Who Can Apply?

For Medical Teaching Posts

• You must hold the qualification prescribed by NMC (Medical Council of India) / Dental Council of India for the post (MBBS + MD/MS/DNB and/or DM/MCh/DNB super-speciality in the relevant subject).
• Special departments have specific requirements — for example, Assistant Professor (Geriatric Mental Health) needs DM (Geriatric Mental Health) or MD Psychiatry with 2 years special training; Assistant Professor (Plastic Surgery — Critical Care) needs MD Anaesthesia / Medicine / Pulmonary / Pediatric.
• Human Organ Transplant (Assistant Professor): MCh (HPB Surgery) or MCh/DNB (Surgical Gastroenterology) with 1 year experience in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery, or MS/DNB (General Surgery) with 3 years training in Liver Transplant, or MCh/DNB (Urology) with 1 year experience in Renal Transplantation.

For Non-Medical Teaching Posts (Centre for Advance Research)

• Cytogenetic Lab: M.Sc. (Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Genetics) with Ph.D. or MD (Microbiology/Pathology) or DM (Medical Genetics).
• Forensic Finger Printing Lab: M.Sc. (Forensic Science/Biotechnology/Genetics) with Ph.D. or MD (Forensic Medicine).
• Forensic Odontology Lab: MD (Forensic Medicine) or MDS in any Dental Sciences discipline.
• Community Medicine — Health Educator (NM): M.S.W. with Ph.D. or equivalent qualification with Ph.D. in Social Work.

For Nursing Teaching Posts (College of Nursing)

• Assistant Professor (Nursing): M.Sc. (Nursing) with 3 years teaching experience. Ph.D. (Nursing) desirable.
• Tutor (Nursing): M.Sc. (Nursing) or B.Sc. (Nursing) / P.B.B.Sc. (Nursing) with 1 year teaching experience.

Teaching and Research Experience

• You need 13, 9, 6 and 3 years of teaching and research experience after MD/MS/DNB for Professor, Additional Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor respectively (or 10, 6, 3 and 0 years after DM/MCh/DrNB).
• Out of these, 3 years as Senior Resident in an NMC-recognised teaching institute is mandatory.
• Research publications must be in journals indexed in Medline, PubMed Central, Science Citation Index, Citation Index, Expanded Embase, Scopus or DOAJ.

Other Mandatory Requirements

• Domicile: Only Uttar Pradesh domiciles are eligible. UP domicile certificate is required.
• Reservation Category: This drive is for SC, ST, OBC candidates only. Valid UP reservation/caste certificate is mandatory. OBC certificate must be issued within the last 6 months.
• For Associate Professor / Professor: BCBR proctored examination and BCMET completion are compulsory.
• If you are already in government service, a No Objection Certificate from your current employer is mandatory.

Salary

• Professor: Rs. 1,68,900 to Rs. 2,20,400 per month (Level 14A, GP 10500)
• Professor Junior Grade (Additional Professor): Rs. 1,48,200 to Rs. 2,11,400 per month (Level 13A-2, GP 9500)
• Associate Professor: Rs. 1,38,300 to Rs. 2,09,200 per month (Level 13A-1, GP 9000)
• Assistant Professor (Medical): Rs. 1,01,500 to Rs. 1,67,400 per month (Level 12, GP 8000)
• Assistant Professor (Nursing): Rs. 67,700 to Rs. 2,08,700 per month (Level 11, GP 6600)
• Tutor (Nursing): Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500 per month (Level 10, GP 5400)
• Plus DA, HRA and other allowances as per Uttar Pradesh Government rules. New Pension Scheme is applicable.
• Note: Non-Medical Teachers are not entitled to Non-Practice Allowance.

Application Fee

• OBC category seats: Rs. 6,000 (inclusive of 18% GST, non-refundable)
• SC / ST / PwD category seats: Rs. 3,500 (inclusive of 18% GST, non-refundable)

Selection Process

The selection is interview-based, with no written exam:

1. Scrutiny and Screening: KGMU will provisionally scrutinise all offline applications received against the deadline.
2. Shortlisting for Interview: KGMU may shortlist candidates for interview based on the number of applications received per advertised post.
3. Personal Interview: Only eligible candidates will be called for a personal interview. Attendance must be in person — online appearance is not permitted. Interview date will be communicated by email.
4. Document Verification: Original documents will be verified at the time of interview.
5. Medical Fitness Certification: Final appointment is subject to medical fitness.

No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. Probation period is one year, extendable by one more year.
