The Kerala Public Service Commission (Kerala PSC) has released Category No. 62/2026 under the extra-ordinary gazette dated 30 June 2026 for the post of Assistant Professor in Statistics in government colleges under the Kerala Collegiate Education Department. This is the sixth NCA (Not Considered / Absent) notification for this post, opened because qualified Scheduled Caste candidates were not available in the earlier five rounds going back to 2007. Only Scheduled Caste candidates can apply — Scheduled Tribe candidates will be considered only if no SC candidate is available. This is a strong chance for SC statistics postgraduates who want a permanent teaching job in Kerala government colleges with UGC pay.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

• You must have a Master's Degree in Statistics (the subject concerned) with not less than 50% marks or an equivalent qualification, along with a good academic record.
• You must have passed a Comprehensive Test (NET/SET) in Statistics conducted by the UGC or an agency set up by the state government for this purpose.
• If you hold a Ph.D in Statistics, you are exempted from passing the NET exam.
• Only degrees from UGC-recognised universities are accepted. If you hold an equivalent qualification, you must produce the relevant Government Order to prove equivalency at the time of verification.
• When qualifications are equal, preference is given to candidates who know Malayalam.

Community Requirement

• This post is only for Scheduled Caste (SC) community candidates.
• If no SC candidate is available, Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates will be considered. Applications from other communities will be rejected without a separate rejection memo.

Weightage Marks (for ranking)

If you hold extra (non-qualifying) degrees beyond the essential qualification, you get bonus marks for ranking:

• Non-qualifying M.Phil: 2 marks
• Non-qualifying Ph.D: 4 marks
• Both M.Phil and Ph.D: 5 marks
• Post Doctoral Fellowship: 2 marks

Weightage marks are given only for qualifications claimed in the application and acquired on or before the last date.

Age Limit

• You should be between 22 and 50 years old.
• Only candidates born between 2 January 1976 and 1 January 2004 (both dates included) can apply.

Salary

• The post carries the UGC pay scale for Assistant Professors.
• You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Kerala Government rules.
• Selected candidates will be on probation for 2 years within a continuous period of 3 years.

Selection Process

Selection is done by Kerala PSC through the ranked list system:

1. Written / OMR / Online Test: If a test is held, you must confirm through your One Time Registration profile and download the admission ticket. The exam calendar will announce the dates.
2. Weightage Marks: Extra marks for M.Phil, Ph.D and Post Doctoral qualifications are added for ranking.
3. Document Verification: You must produce original certificates for qualification, age, community, etc. when called.
4. Ranked List: Kerala PSC prepares a ranked list and advises candidates for appointment against the SC vacancy.

Note: If your caste in the application differs from the SSLC book, you must produce a Gazette Notification along with your community certificate at verification.

3. Log in to your profile with your User-ID and password.
4. Find the notification for Assistant Professor in Statistics (Cat. No. 62/2026) and click Apply Now.

6. Submit the form and keep a printout or soft copy for your record.
