The Jharkhand Public Service Commission has released Advertisement No. 02/2026 on 13 February 2026 to fill backlog Assistant Professor posts in four departments - Information Technology, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemistry, and Physics - across Government Engineering Colleges in Jharkhand. You need a Master's or B.E/B.Tech degree with first class plus NET/GATE/JET to apply.

Who Can Apply?

For Engineering / Technology (IT, Metallurgical Engineering)

• Qualification: B.E / B.Tech / B.S and M.E / M.Tech / M.S, OR Integrated M.Tech in the relevant branch with First Class at one of the degrees.
• Candidates with a Ph.D after Bachelor's from a Centre of National Importance with GATE / GPAT / CEED are also eligible.

For Science & Humanities (Chemistry, Physics)

• Master's degree with 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PWD) in the relevant subject from an Indian or accredited foreign university.
• NET (UGC / CSIR) or JET (Jharkhand Eligibility Test) qualified, OR a Ph.D awarded as per UGC 2009/2016 regulations.
• Candidates with a Ph.D from a foreign university ranked in the top 500 (QS World Rankings) are also eligible.

Reservation note: Reservation benefit is available only for Jharkhand state permanent residents. You must submit a local domicile certificate.

Age Limit

• Minimum age: No minimum age limit as per Jharkhand Technical Education Service Regulations 2024.
• Maximum age: Below 65 years (retirement age for Assistant Professor).
• Age reckoning date: 1 August 2025.
• If you turn 65 during the selection process, your candidature will not be considered.

Salary

• Pay Scale: Level 10 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix.
• Entry Pay: Rs. 57,700 per month (basic).
• Plus DA, HRA, and other allowances admissible to State Government employees.
• Probation period: 2 years from the date of joining.

Application Fee

• BC-I (Annexure-I): Rs. 600
• SC / ST (Jharkhand only): Rs. 150
• PWD (40% or more disability): No fee
• Fee can be paid via Credit Card / Debit Card / Net Banking / Wallet / Bharat QR / UPI.
• Fee is non-refundable. Applications without fee payment (except exempted PWD) will be rejected.

Selection Process

1. Merit list based on academic record - 80 marks for academics, GATE/NET, publications, awards, and teaching experience as per Schedule.
2. Document Verification - Top 5 times the number of vacancies will be called.
3. Interview - Top 3 times the candidates from document verification will be called for interview (carries 20 marks).
4. Final Selection - Based on aggregate marks (Academic + Interview). Minimum qualifying marks: 34% for BC-I, 32% for SC/ST.

No written exam. Selection is purely merit-based using academic scoring plus interview.

2. Complete One Time Registration (OTR) at jpscotr.com if not done already.
3. Fill the online application before 10 March 2026.
4. Pay the fee online and download the filled application.
5. Take a printout, sign it, and send the hard copy with self-attested documents by Speed Post or by hand to: The Controller of Examinations, Jharkhand Public Service Commission, Circular Road, Ranchi-834001.
6. The hard copy must reach JPSC by 23 March 2026, 5:00 PM. Write Advertisement Number, Examination name, Registration No. and Subject in BOLD on the envelope.
