IIT (ISM) Dhanbad has released Advertisement No. 411002/4/2026-NFR for 2 Assistant Systems Engineer posts on Direct Recruitment basis — one post each for Network Administration and HPC (High Performance Computing) and Cloud Management. Both posts are also suitable for Divyang candidates with low vision, hearing impairment or locomotor disability. Who Can Apply?

For Assistant Systems Engineer (Network Administration) - Pay Level-10, Max Age 40 years:

• 1st Class B.E./B.Tech/M.Sc. in Computer Science, Electronics & Communication Engineering, IT, Software Science, Electrical Engineering or Electronics & Electrical Engineering, or MCA, with 6 years of relevant experience in a Government Organisation/Institute or reputed Computer Organisation/Industry in Pay Level-7, OR
• First Class M.E./M.Tech in the above disciplines with 4 years of relevant experience at Pay Level-7
• Desirable: sound knowledge of IPv4, IPv6, network protocols (DHCP, DNS, NTP, SYSLOG), switching and routing, Multilayer Core/Distribution switches, firewalls and Wireless LAN controllers.

For Assistant Systems Engineer (HPC and Cloud Management) - Pay Level-10, Max Age 40 years:

• Same educational qualification and experience requirement as above (6 years with Bachelor's degree/MCA, or 4 years with a Master's degree, at Pay Level-7)
• Desirable: experience with HPC workloads, cloud administration and migration, virtual environments, RedHat/Ubuntu/Windows OS, and programming/scripting in PHP, Python or C/C++.

Age Limit

• The maximum age limit for both posts is 40 years, reckoned as on the closing date of application, 6 August 2026.
• Age Relaxation: Regular employees of the Institute or other IITs/NITs/CFTIs for at least 3 years get a 5-year relaxation (not for private organization employees). Ex-Servicemen, Divyang candidates and regular Central/State Government employees get relaxation as per GoI norms.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a salary under Pay Level-10 of the 7th Central Pay Commission, ranging from Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500 per month.
• You will also get DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per Central Government rules.

Selection Process

IIT (ISM) Dhanbad will select candidates through the following stages:

1. Shortlisting: Based on essential qualifications and experience mentioned in the advertisement.
2. Written Test and Computer/Other Test: May be conducted as per the Recruitment Rules of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, if required.
3. Presentation and Interview: Final selection is based on your performance in Presentation and Interview before the Selection Committee.

If you are shortlisted for the Presentation and Interview, you can claim AC-3 tier to-and-fro rail fare from your normal place of residence to Dhanbad. The Institute may also conduct the interview in online mode.

Other Important Points

• If your experience certificate mentions pay scales other than the Central Government Pay Scale or CDA pattern, you must submit a pay equivalence certificate along with your application, otherwise that experience will not be considered.
• The Institute's Scrutiny Committee will determine the relevancy of your experience to the post, and its decision is final and binding.
• The Institute reserves the right to place a reasonable limit on the number of candidates called for the selection process, and to cancel the advertisement in whole or in part without assigning any reason.
