IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, formerly known as Indian School of Mines and established in 1926, has released Advertisement No. 411002/2/2026-NFR dated 22 June 2026 for 27 Junior Technical Superintendent posts spread across 10 different technical streams on a direct recruitment basis. Four of the 27 posts are reserved for Divyang (specially-abled) candidates, and all 10 streams share a common cadre with a single reservation roster. Who Can Apply?

Common Requirements (All Streams):

• At least 4 years of relevant experience in Pay Level-5 (Pre-revised Pay Band-1, Grade Pay Rs. 2,800) or equivalent in a Government Department, Autonomous Body, or reputed Private Sector organization
• Working experience in MS-Office and other computer software relevant to your area of specialization

• Chemistry: B.Sc. in Chemistry

• Civil: 3-year Diploma in Civil Engineering
• Architect: 3-year Diploma in Architecture
• Mechanical: 3-year Diploma in Mechanical/Production/Aerospace-Aeronautical/Power Plant/Industrial/Mechatronics/Robotics & Automation/CAD-CAM-CAE/Automobile Engineering
• Physics: B.Sc. in Physics
• Electronics: 3-year Diploma in Electronics/Electronics & Communication/Electrical & Instrumentation/Embedded System/VLSI-Semiconductor or B.Sc. in Electronics Engineering
• Computer: 3-year Diploma in Computer Science & Engineering/IT/Computer Science or B.Sc. in Computer Science/IT/Computer Application

Desirable: Prior experience handling networking, IT security, sophisticated laboratory equipment, or architectural drafting relevant to your stream is an added advantage.

Age Limit

• You should be up to 35 years old as on the closing date of application, 6 August 2026.
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST/OBC(NCL) candidates get relaxation as per Government of India norms.
• If you have served at least 3 years on a regular post at IIT (ISM) or other IITs/NITs/CFTIs, you get 5 years of age relaxation (not applicable to employees from private organizations).
• Age relaxation is also available to regular Central/State Government employees, Ex-Servicemen, and Divyang candidates as per GoI norms.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a salary of Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 1,12,400 per month under Pay Level-6 of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
• You will also get DA, HRA, and other allowances as per Institute rules.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in these stages:

1. Preliminary Shortlisting: Based on the essential qualifications and experience mentioned in the advertisement. Just meeting the qualifications does not guarantee a call for the test.
2. Written Test and Trade Test / Computer Proficiency Test: The Institute decides the exact method and pattern, especially if a large number of applications are received.
3. Final Selection: Based on your performance in the recruitment test(s), as per the Recruitment Rules of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad.

No TA/DA is paid for appearing in the recruitment tests. If you are already employed in Central/State Government, UT Administration, or a Central/State Autonomous Body/PSU, you must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your employer at the time of document verification.
