Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) has released a notification for 3 Trainee positions at its Institute Works Department (IWD). The positions are temporary engagements for one year and offer hands-on exposure to campus civil, electrical, mechanical, and horticulture operations. Selection is interview-based — there is no written exam. Fresh Diploma/Degree holders who completed their course in 2026 can apply.

Vacancy Breakdown

• Trainee - Civil: Day-to-day monitoring of civil maintenance, drawing management, AutoCAD drafting, and estimates

Trainee - Electrical/Mechanical

• Qualification: 3-year Diploma or 4-year Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
• Desirable Skills: Project management, knowledge of internal electrical and air conditioning work, AutoCAD, MS Office
• Languages: Hindi and English

Trainee - Horticulture

• Qualification: B.Sc. in Agriculture or Forestry (or related qualification)
• Desirable Skills: Basic knowledge of horticulture, plants, hedges, trees, and MS Office
• Languages: Hindi and English

Important: You must have successfully completed your Diploma/Degree in the year 2026.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 25 years as on 01 May 2026
• No minimum age specified in the notification

Salary

• Monthly consolidated remuneration: Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 25,000 per month
• The exact amount within this range is fixed based on educational qualifications
• No other allowances are admissible. Bachelor accommodation may be provided on payment basis as per institute norms (subject to availability)

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based on a single stage:

1. Interview: Only shortlisted candidates will be intimated about the date and time of the interview. No TA/DA will be paid for attending in-person interviews.

• Monitor horticulture activities including hedges, ground cover, trees, and lawns (for Horticulture role)
• Work for six days a week (Monday to Saturday), including evenings and holidays when required
• Attend additional duties assigned by the reporting officer from time to time
