IGIMS Patna Senior Resident ENT Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), Patna, an autonomous institute of the Government of Bihar, is holding a walk-in interview for Senior Residents in its Department of ENT under Advt. No. 02/ENT/2026. These are ad-hoc appointments for 89 days under the Senior Residency Programme, meant to cover the department's urgent needs until the regular three-year Senior Resident recruitment is completed.

If you hold an MS in ENT and want short-term experience at a busy teaching hospital in Patna, this is a quick way in. There is no written test — the selection committee scores your academic record, publications, training and subject knowledge at the interview itself.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Reservation for Bihar domicile only: Reservation benefits apply only to Bihar domicile candidates; applicants from other states cannot claim reservation.
• Non-practising post: Private practice of any kind, direct or indirect, including running a laboratory, is strictly banned, and breaking this rule ends your appointment.
• Legal bond: You sign a bond to repay one month's pay for every year of the residency not completed if you quit midway.
• Campus stay: Living on campus is compulsory if accommodation is provided; if not, HRA is paid as per rules.
• Employed candidates: Bring a No Objection Certificate from your employer. If you are not working, give a written statement that you are neither employed nor doing any course.
• Vacancies may change: The number of posts can go up or down, and a male candidate may be considered where an eligible female candidate is not available.
• Minimum score: You must reach a qualifying percentile in the 100-mark assessment to be appointed; the cut-off is lower for reserved categories.
• No TA/DA: No travel allowance is paid for attending the interview or for joining.
• Selection is not appointment: Being picked by the committee does not give you a right to the post; the institute decides the final appointment.

Download the application form from www.igims.org and bring it filled in, together with a demand draft payable to The Director, IGIMS, Patna and your original documents plus one set of self-attested copies. Report to Room No. 32, ENT HOD Chamber, Ground Floor, OPD Building, IGIMS, Patna-14.

• Reporting window: from 1:00 PM; anyone arriving after 2:00 PM is not accepted.
• Document check: done between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM, before the interview starts at 2:30 PM.
• Payment: only a demand draft works — cash, cheques, money orders, postal orders and stamps lead to rejection.
• No edits: once you submit the form, you cannot change it, so check your name, category and qualification details carefully.

The result will be posted on the IGIMS Patna website on a date the institute will announce later.
