ICFRE Director General Recruitment 2026

ICFRE Dehradun is hiring a Director General on a 3-year deputation at Pay Level 17 of 7th CPC (Rs. 2,25,000 fixed). Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE) Director General Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India, has released Advertisement No. 02/32-1/2026/DG/ICFRE for the post of Director General at its headquarters in New Forest, Dehradun. The DG is the Chief Executive Officer of the Council and leads forestry research and education across India. This is a non-CSS deputation post at the apex pay level for an eminent scientist or senior forester. The term of appointment is 3 years (or until superannuation, whichever is earlier).

Who Can Apply?

You must be a serving officer/scientist of the Central/State Government, recognised university, research institute or autonomous body, drawing pay at Level 15 of 7th CPC or above, and meet either of the two eligibility tracks below.

Track I — For Scientists (other than IFS)

• First Class Post Graduate degree in Forestry / Botany / Agriculture or related sciences, OR First Class Bachelor's in Engineering or Technology, from a recognised university
• Minimum 30 years of service as a Group 'A' Scientist with a Forestry Research background, including at least 5 years of administrative experience (as on 1 June 2026)
• Evidence of published research papers
• Desirable: Doctorate in Forestry or related sciences

Track II — For Indian Forest Service (IFS) Members

• Officer of the Indian Forest Service serving at the level of Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (APCCF) or above in a State/UT Administration
• Completed 30 years of service with reference to the year of allotment
• At least 5 years' experience in Forestry Research, OR 3 years' Forestry Research + 2 years' Forestry Education/Extension (as on 1 June 2026)
• Desirable: Doctorate in Forestry or related sciences

Age Limit

• You must not be above 57 years of age as on 30 November 2026 (i.e. born on or after 30 November 1969).
• MoEFCC may relax the age in cases where the age of superannuation has been increased by the Government of India / State Government / autonomous body.
• Only Indian nationals and serving employees of Government of India, State Government, autonomous bodies and government undertakings can apply.

Salary

• Pay scale: Level 17 of 7th CPC Pay Matrix (pre-revised Apex Pay Scale of Rs. 80,000 fixed)
• Revised fixed pay: Rs. 2,25,000 per month
• Plus usual allowances as admissible under ICFRE rules at Dehradun

Selection Process

Selection is on the basis of an officer's qualifications, experience and recommendation by the competent authority:

1. Application Scrutiny: Applications received in the prescribed Annexure-I format with all enclosures (DD, certificates, ACR dossier of last 8 years, vigilance clearance in 13-point CVC format) will be screened.
2. Document Verification: Eligibility, age, service length and administrative experience verified through the competent authority.
3. Selection Committee: Final selection by the committee constituted by MoEFCC. Approaching members of the committee is grounds for disqualification.

Application must be routed through proper channel with the certificate in Annexure-III by the competent authority. An advance copy by email to sec@icfre.org or by post is permitted before the last date.

1. Download the advertisement and Annexure-I to Annexure-III from icfre.gov.in (Recruitment section).
2. Type the Annexure-I proforma neatly on A-4 paper and paste a recent self-signed passport-size photograph.
3. Prepare a crossed Demand Draft for Rs. 500 (SC/ST exempt) in favour of the Accounts Officer, ICFRE.
4. Attach self-attested copies of educational qualification, experience certificates and caste/disability certificate (if applicable).
5. Attach Annexure-II (declaration) signed by you and Annexure-III (employer's certificate) signed by your forwarding authority.
6. Enclose ACR dossier for the past 8 years and vigilance clearance report in 13-point CVC format from your department.
