The Indian Council of Agricultural Research - Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI) is India's premier agricultural research institution, located at the Pusa Campus in New Delhi. The Division of Microbiology is hiring under the externally funded project titled "Harnessing Mycorrhizosphere Synergies to Regulate Carbon-Nitrogen Balance and GHG Emissions in Maize-Wheat Cropping Systems". Both positions are unreserved (General category) and purely temporary on a contractual basis.

Who Can Apply?

Research Associate-I (RA-I)

• Essential: Ph.D. Degree with at least 3 years of research experience after Master's degree in Plant Molecular Biology / Biotechnology / Microbiology / Environment Science / Life Science
• Your Bachelor's degree should be of 4 or 5 years duration
• If you have a 3-year Bachelor's degree, you must have NET qualification
• Desirable: Expertise in molecular techniques and bioinformatics tools

Senior Research Fellow (SRF)

• Essential: Master's degree with at least 2 years of research experience in Molecular Biology / Biotechnology / Microbiology / Biochemistry / Life Sciences
• Your Bachelor's degree should be of 4 or 5 years duration
• If you have a 3-year Bachelor's degree, you must have NET qualification
• Desirable: Expertise in molecular microbiology techniques and bioinformatics tools

Age Limit

• Maximum age for RA-I: 35 years
• Age relaxation for SC/ST & Women: 5 years (up to 40 years)
• Age relaxation for OBC: 3 years (up to 38 years)
• Relaxation is as per GOI/ICAR rules

Salary

• Research Associate-I: Rs. 58,000/- per month + HRA (House Rent Allowance)
• Senior Research Fellow: Rs. 42,000/- per month + HRA
• HRA will be given as per existing Central Government rates applicable in various cities where RA and Project Associate work on DBT-funded projects

Selection Process

1. Walk-in Interview — Selection will be based on a personal interview held at the Division of Microbiology, IARI. There is no written exam. You need to appear in person with all your original documents.
2. Document Verification — Your original certificates, mark sheets, experience proof, and publications will be verified on the day of the interview.
3. Medical Examination — The selected candidate will need to produce a medical certificate at the time of joining.

Note: The Institute reserves the right to not select any candidate or scrap any position even after the interview.

2. Fill in the application form neatly — it should be typed on separate white paper following the given format
3. Paste an attested passport-size photograph on the application
4. Bring all original documents — degree certificates and mark sheets from Class 10 onwards, UG, PG, Ph.D., NET/GATE certificates, proof of experience, and publications
5. Also bring one set of self-attested photocopies of all required certificates from matriculation onwards
6. If you are currently working, bring a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your employer

• Conduct research experiments on mycorrhizosphere synergies in maize-wheat cropping systems
• Analyze carbon-nitrogen balance and GHG emissions data using molecular techniques
• Prepare detailed reports and research publications in peer-reviewed journals
• Handle laboratory equipment, maintain lab records, and follow standard operating procedures
• Assist the Principal Investigator in planning and executing field and laboratory trials
