ICAR-IARI has released notification for 2 Young Professional posts (YP-II and YP-I) in the Division of Fruits & Horticultural Technology, New Delhi. Candidates with M.Sc. ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi has invited applications for 2 Young Professional posts under sponsored research projects at the Pusa Campus. The YP-II post is under the NMNF project on natural farming through diversified fruit farming systems, while the YP-I post is under the NASF project on novel mutants in guava. These are contractual positions for one year (or project duration, whichever is earlier), extendable on satisfactory performance. Candidates with a background in horticulture, agriculture, or related sciences should apply.

Who Can Apply?

For Young Professional-II (YP-II):

  • Essential Qualification: M.Sc. with specialization in Horticulture, Fruit Science, Food Science & Post-harvest Technology, Plant Biochemistry, Soil Science, Agronomy, or Microbiology (as per ICAR rules)
  • Desirable: Experience in phenotyping, field data compilation, and documentation in fruit cropping systems

For Young Professional-I (YP-I):

  • Essential Qualification: Graduate in Agriculture, Horticulture, or Botany (as per ICAR rules)
  • Desirable: Experience in phenotyping, genotyping, and biochemical analysis of fruit crops

If you are currently employed, you need a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your employer.

Age Limit

  • YP-II: Maximum 35 years for men and 40 years for women
  • YP-I: Minimum 21 years and maximum 45 years
  • Age Relaxation: SC/ST/OBC candidates get relaxation as per Government of India/ICAR rules

Salary

  • Young Professional-II (YP-II): Rs. 42,000 per month (fixed)
  • Young Professional-I (YP-I): Rs. 30,000 per month (fixed)
  • These are fixed fellowship amounts — no additional DA/HRA or allowances are mentioned

Selection Process

Selection will be done through a walk-in interview:

  1. Document Verification: Report at 9:30 AM on 05 May 2026 with all original certificates. Candidates arriving after 10:30 AM will not be allowed
  2. Academic Score Evaluation: Based on your marks from 10th Standard to highest qualification, plus awards, publications, and research experience
  3. Walk-in Interview: Shortlisted candidates will appear for the interview on the same day

Note: No written exam for this recruitment. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in field experiments related to fruit farming systems and natural farming practices
  • Collect and compile field data on crop performance, phenotyping, and yield parameters
  • Prepare documentation and reports on project activities and research findings
  • Handle laboratory analysis including biochemical and genotyping work on fruit crops
  • Manage demonstration plots and maintain records of diversified farming systems
  • Work with the project team on knowledge exchange and awareness activities

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

Graduate in Agriculture/Horticulture/Botany (YP-I); M.Sc. in Horticulture/Fruit Science/Food Science/Plant Biochemistry/Soil Science/Agronomy/Microbiology (YP-II)

Preferred Qualification

Experience in phenotyping, genotyping, field data compilation, and biochemical analysis of fruit crops
