Gujarat Subordinate Service Selection Board (GSSSB), Gandhinagar has released Advertisement No. 402/202526 for 14 posts of Additional Assistant Engineer (Civil), Class III, under the Narmada Water Resources and Water Supply Department (Gujarat Pani Puratha and Gutter Vyavastha Board). This is a Special Recruitment Drive exclusively for Divyang (Persons with Benchmark Disability) candidates — general category candidates cannot apply. Diploma-holder Civil engineers with a recognised disability can apply online through the OJAS Gujarat portal.

Who Can Apply?
Educational Qualification
- Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognised Technical Examination Board, University, or Institution under Central or State Act. Equivalent qualifications recognised by the Government are also accepted.
- Equivalent diplomas recognised include: Diploma in Civil (Construction), Public Health and Environment Engineering, Civil and Environment Engineering, Civil and Rural Engineering, Construction Technology, Environment and Pollution Control, Environmental Engineering, Public Health Engineering, Rural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, and other specified streams.
- Important: Candidates holding a Bachelor's Degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Civil Engineering are NOT eligible to apply.
Other Requirements
- Computer Knowledge: Basic knowledge of computer applications as prescribed in the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967 is required.
- Language: Adequate knowledge of Gujarati and Hindi is mandatory.
- Domicile / Citizenship: You must be an Indian citizen or a person of Indian nationality as per Gujarat Mulki Seva Vargikaran and Bharti (Samanya) Rules, 1967.
- Disability: Only candidates with Benchmark Disability (as per The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016) in the eligible categories are allowed to apply.
Age Limit
- You should be between 18 and 33 years old as on 20 March 2026.
- Age Relaxation for PwD Candidates (over and above the base limit of 33 years):

Salary
- During the 5-year probation period: Fixed pay of Rs. 49,600 per month as per Finance Department orders.
- After probation and regularisation: Pay in Level 7 — Rs. 39,900 to Rs. 1,26,600 per month (7th Pay Commission equivalent).
- Plus DA, HRA and other allowances as per Gujarat Government rules.
- Note: Candidates selected for these posts are employees of Gujarat Pani Puratha and Gutter Vyavastha Board, not Gujarat state government employees directly.

Selection Process
The selection is done in the following stages:
- Written Exam (CBRT / OMR — MCQ format): A competitive exam with 210 questions for 210 marks in 3 hours (180 minutes). The exam has two parts — Part A (general aptitude, 90 marks) and Part B (civil engineering technical, 120 marks). You need a minimum of 40% marks in each part separately to qualify. Negative marking of 1/4 mark per wrong answer applies.
- Document Verification: Candidates shortlisted at 2x the vacancy count (per disability category) are called for document verification.
- Merit List: Final selection is based on combined merit in the written exam. Sports bonus marks (up to 5 normalised marks) and widow preference bonus may apply as per rules.
PwD candidates with writing difficulty can request a scribe or 20 minutes compensatory time per hour — email so-kh1-gsssb@gujarat.gov.in at least 2 days before the exam.

Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, design, and execution of civil engineering works under the Narmada Water Resources and Water Supply Department
- Supervise construction activities including water supply schemes, pipelines, and drainage works
- Prepare estimates, drawings, and technical reports for assigned projects
- Inspect work sites and ensure quality of construction as per specifications and standards
- Maintain records of project progress, material usage, and labour deployment
- Coordinate with contractors, field staff, and senior engineers for smooth project execution
- Prepare and submit periodic progress reports to senior officers

Exam Pattern
The written exam is an objective MCQ-based test (CBRT / OMR format) with 210 questions for 210 marks. You get 3 hours (180 minutes) to complete it. The exam has two parts:
Part A — General Aptitude (90 Marks, 90 Questions)
- Reasoning and Data Interpretation: 30 questions, 30 marks (Ages, Blood relations, Arithmetic reasoning, Data interpretation tables, Data sufficiency)
- Quantitative Aptitude: 30 questions, 30 marks (Number systems, Simplification, Algebra, Progressions, Percentage, Profit-Loss, Time-Work, Speed-Distance, Ratio-Proportion)
- Constitution of India: 10 questions, 10 marks (Fundamental rights, Directive principles, Presidential system, Parliamentary system, Constitutional bodies)
- Current Affairs: 10 questions, 10 marks (State, national and international events)
- Comprehension (Gujarati 5 marks + English 5 marks): 10 questions, 10 marks
Part B — Technical Civil Engineering (120 Marks, 120 Questions)
- Questions related to Technical Qualification: 120 questions, 120 marks
- Topics: Building Materials, Solid Mechanics, Structural Analysis, Design of Steel Structures, Design of Concrete and Masonry Structures, Construction Practice and Management, Fluid Mechanics, Hydrology, Irrigation Engineering, Water Supply and Sanitation, Environmental Engineering, Soil Mechanics, Foundation Engineering, Highway Engineering, Traffic Engineering, and Surveying.
