Gujarat Subordinate Service Selection Board (GSSSB) has released Advertisement No. 425/2026-27 for Laboratory Assistant (Mechanical), Class-3 posts under the Commissionerate of Technical Education. This recruitment is only for eligible Persons with Benchmark Disabilities and will be filled through a competitive examination. The notice is a special recruitment drive to fill backlog PwD reservation vacancies, so only the disability groups mentioned in the notice can apply.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

• Qualification: You need a diploma in the relevant branch of engineering or technology from a recognised Technical Examination Board, university, deemed university, or equivalent institution.
• Mechanical Branch: The relevant branch includes Mechanical Engineering and allied branches such as Metallurgy, Fabrication Technology, Automobile Engineering, Mining Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Mechatronics.
• Computer Knowledge: You must have basic computer application knowledge as required under Gujarat Civil Services rules.
• Language: You need adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both.

PwD Eligibility

• Total posts: 2 vacancies are reserved under the special PwD recruitment drive.
• D/HH group: 1 post is reserved for Deaf or Hard of Hearing candidates.
• ASD(M)/SLD/MI/MD group: 1 post is reserved for Autism Spectrum Disorder (Mild), Specific Learning Disability, Mental Illness, or Multiple Disabilities as mentioned in the notice.
• Disability certificate: You must hold a valid disability certificate in the prescribed format under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2017.

Age Limit

• You should be at least 18 years old and not more than 33 years old as on 29 June 2026.
• General PwD male candidates: Relaxation of 10 years, up to 43 years.
• General PwD female candidates: Relaxation of 15 years, up to 45 years.
• Reserved PwD male candidates: Relaxation of 15 years, up to 45 years.
• Reserved PwD female candidates: Relaxation of 20 years, up to 45 years.
• Age relaxation and reservation benefits are available as per Gujarat Government rules and the certificate conditions in the notification.

Salary

• For the first five years, selected candidates will get fixed pay of Rs. 26,000 per month.
• After satisfactory service, the post moves to regular Level-2 pay of Rs. 19,900 to Rs. 63,200 per month.
• Regular appointment and benefits will be governed by Gujarat Government finance and service rules.

Application Fee

• Unreserved category: Rs. 500
• Women, SEBC, SC, ST, EWS, PwD and Ex-Servicemen candidates: Rs. 400
• Payment mode: Online only through debit card, internet banking, UPI or wallet on OJAS.
• Fee payment last date: 01 July 2026 up to 23:59 hours.
• The fee will be refunded to candidates who appear for the examination, as stated in the notice.

Selection Process

The selection process has a competitive CBRT/OMR written exam followed by merit-based shortlisting and document verification.

1. Written Exam: One objective MCQ exam in two parts, Part A and Part B.
2. Minimum Qualifying Standard: You must score at least 40% separately in Part A and Part B.
3. Document Verification: Around twice the number of required candidates may be called based on merit and PwD group requirements.
4. Final Selection List: The final list will be prepared from exam marks after document verification and reservation rules.

Part A checks logical ability, data interpretation, mathematics, constitution, current affairs, Gujarati comprehension and English comprehension. Part B checks mechanical engineering topics such as engineering materials, mechanics, drawing, thermodynamics, production processes, metrology, fluid mechanics, plant maintenance, tool engineering, CAD/CAM and industrial engineering. The notice states that exam questions will be in Gujarati and English as per the subject rules.
