Spices Board, under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, has released Notification No. 01/2026 for trainee selection in the Quality Evaluation Laboratory at Kandla. The trainees will work in quality evaluation of spices and spice products. A panel will also be prepared for future trainee requirements, and the rank list will remain valid for two years from publication.

This is a training opportunity, not a regular government appointment. The notification clearly says that selection as a Trainee Analyst is only training and cannot be linked with regular appointment or regularisation at any stage. If you have already undergone training in any Spices Board office, you are not eligible to apply again.

Vacancy Details

Who Can Apply?

For Trainee Analyst (Chemistry)

• Qualification: You need a Bachelor of Science degree with Chemistry as one of the main subjects, or a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, from a recognised university/institute or equivalent.
• Training area: The selected trainee will get training in chemical analysis of spices and spice products.

For Trainee Analyst (Microbiology)

• Qualification: You need a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology from a recognised university/institute or equivalent.
• Training area: The selected trainee will get training in microbiological analysis of spices and spice products.

Other Conditions

• Category condition: Only SC/ST candidates can appear for this walk-in test.
• Previous training bar: Candidates who have undergone training in any Spices Board office are not eligible, whether they completed the training or not.
• Training tenure: The training period is one year from the date of joining and may be extended up to one more year.
• Leave: Trainees get one day leave per month.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 30 years.
• Age reference: Age will be counted as on the date of the walk-in test, which is 15 July 2026.

Stipend

• Selected trainees will receive a stipend of Rs. 20,000 per month.
• The notice calls this a training stipend, not a regular pay scale.

Selection Process

Selection will be through a walk-in test at Spices Board QEL, Kandla. The notification does not give a separate syllabus, question count, marks or test duration.

1. Walk-in Test: Chemistry candidates should report for the 11:00 AM test, and Microbiology candidates should report for the 2:30 PM test on 15 July 2026.
2. Document Verification: You must bring original certificates for identity proof, age, education/training and caste.
3. Panel Preparation: Spices Board will prepare a rank list/panel for selection and future requirements.

The panel is useful because the notice says it may be used for future requirements. The validity of the rank list will be two years from the date of publishing, so selection is not limited only to the immediate provisional trainee count.

How to Apply

3. Bring one passport-size colour photograph.
4. Bring original certificates for identity proof, age proof, education and training, and SC/ST caste certificate.
5. Carry one set of attested photocopies of the documents, stapled to the filled and signed Annexure I.
6. If there is any mismatch in your name or address, bring a one and same certificate from the government local body.
7. Report to Spices Board, QEL, Plot No. 22A, Sector-8, Near New Income Tax Office, Tagore Road, Gandhidham, Kandla - 370 201, Gujarat on 15 July 2026.

Annexure I asks for your name, date of birth, SC/ST category, ID proof, contact details, address, educational qualification and experience, if any. Fill it neatly before reaching the venue so you can focus on document checking and the walk-in test.

Reach the venue with enough time before your discipline's test slot. Chemistry is scheduled at 11:00 AM, while Microbiology is scheduled at 2:30 PM. Carry originals and photocopies together because missing documents can create problems during verification.
