Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), a Schedule 'A' Mini Ratna Category-I company under the Ministry of Defence, is engaging Experts and Specialists on contract for its Vasco-da-Gama yard under Advertisement No. 08/2026. GSL designs and builds ships for the Indian Navy, the Indian Coast Guard and friendly foreign navies, and this drive brings in seasoned hands for weapons integration, warship refits, HVAC, gas turbines, ship lift operations and industrial relations.

The notice is clearly written for retired Navy artificers, chargemen and foremen, and for senior PSU HR officers — every post asks for long service with hands-on warship or shipyard work. If you have spent your career on Talwar or Teg class frigates, or running refits in a dockyard, this is a way to put that experience back to work.

Posts and Disciplines

Post-wise Duties

Weapons and Sensors

You will help install and integrate naval weapons and sensors such as Lynx U2 and EON 51 fire control radars, SRGM and AK 630 guns, and surface-to-surface and surface-to-air missiles. Experience running Setting-to-Work, Harbour Acceptance Trials and Sea Acceptance Trials is a plus.

Production Coordination

You will coordinate the readiness of compartments and equipment during refits of frontline warships, including deck machinery, the citadel air-pressure test, HVAC and equipment trials.

GES and SR

You will coordinate the installation and trials of the ballast control system, drawing on your experience operating such systems on floating docks or offshore platforms.

HVACR

You will execute and commission HVACR systems on frigates, GES/SR projects and NGOPVs — chillers, chilled-water and cooling-water lines, cooling towers, air handling units and building automation. Handling alarms, fault tracking and preventive maintenance is desirable.

Gas Turbines and Shafting

You will act as a mechanical production coordinator for gas turbine work. Experience with the M7N gas turbine sets on Talwar class ships, or two years with a Gas Turbine Testing and Tuning Team, gets preference.

Ship Repair (Hull/Engg and Electrical)

You will coordinate ship refit and repair activities — installation, commissioning, overhaul, costing and estimation of hull, engineering or electrical, navigation and communication equipment, depending on your stream.

Ship Lift / Shipwright

You will handle docking, undocking and launching, plan safe mooring and unmooring, and keep all lifting and handling appliances on the ship lift compliant with dock safety rules.

HR/IR

You will advise on union matters, industrial relations and wage or pay revisions, bringing senior-level experience from the Central PSU sector.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The engagement starts for one year and can be extended a year at a time until you turn 70, depending on GSL's needs and your performance.
• No permanent claim: These are contract posts only and give no right to regular employment with GSL.
• Pay: The consolidated monthly pay is negotiable and is fixed by the Selection Committee based on equivalent government pay, your profile and the CTC of your last job.
• Training role: You may be asked to train GSL staff on the critical systems or processes you are hired for.
• Location: Although the yard is in Vasco, you can be sent to any location in India as the work requires.
• Exclusive engagement: Full-time experts cannot take up any other assignment during the contract or work against GSL's interests.
• Working hours: Set by the user department as the project demands.
• Interview: Held by video conference or in person; call letters come only by email, and no TA/DA is paid for attending.
• Number of posts: GSL may increase or reduce the number of posts, and may raise the shortlisting criteria.
• Jurisdiction: Any dispute falls under courts in Goa only.
