GSL Consultant Recruitment 2026: Overview

Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), a Schedule 'A' Mini Ratna defence shipyard under the Ministry of Defence, is engaging Consultants on contract at its yard in Vaddem, Vasco-da-Gama, Goa. GSL designs and builds ships for the Indian Navy, the Indian Coast Guard and friendly foreign countries, and these advisory roles support its Shipyard Modernization Project and its Commercial Department. The contract can be renewed year after year until you turn 65, so the drive suits senior professionals and recently retired experts with long careers in finance, import/export or stores.

Posts and Disciplines

• Consultant (Infrastructure Finance): attached to the Shipyard Modernization Project; meant for Chartered or Cost Accountants with a background in finance and internal audit.
• Consultant (Import/Export): part of the Commercial Department; meant for mechanical engineers who have handled customs clearance and procurement under GFR-2017, DAP-2020 and the Manual for Procurement of Goods-2017.
• Consultant (Stores): part of the stores section of the Commercial Department; open to graduates of any discipline with long purchase and stores experience.

Post-wise Duties

Consultant (Infrastructure Finance)

You will advise the Project Head on major proposals and their cost impact, review cost estimates, cash flows and cost-to-completion figures, and check big procurement and contract proposals, including variations and claims. You will also flag financial risks and cost escalations early and suggest fixes.

Consultant (Import/Export)

You will guide shipment planning and coordination with suppliers and freight agencies, advise on customs clearance, transit insurance and IGCR rules, and help with deferred duty payment, AEO certification and liaison with Customs. Export paperwork, shipping bills, re-export of defective items and export incentives also fall to you.

Consultant (Stores)

You will support engineering stores and inventory management, scrutinise contracts and bills for warehousing, material handling and transport, and improve stores documentation such as CRACs and e-way bills. You will also review how materials are received, unloaded and stored, and recommend ways to cut cost and save time.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract only: The engagement gives no claim to permanent employment at GSL.
• Tenure: One year at first, extendable by one year at a time until you reach 65, based on the company's needs and your performance.
• Wider scope: The listed duties are indicative; management can assign other related tasks.
• Posts may change: GSL may increase or reduce the number of posts, or choose not to fill them.
• Shortlisting: GSL can raise the eligibility bar to shortlist applications; meeting the minimum does not guarantee an interview.
• No travel allowance: No TA/DA is paid for attending the personal interview.
• False information: Wrong or fabricated details can lead to rejection or termination even after selection; canvassing can disqualify you.
• Jurisdiction: Any dispute falls under the courts in Goa only.
