Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar has released Advertisement No. 5/2026 for two non-teaching Consultant posts — one in Taxation (for the Finance & Development wing) and one in Constructions (for the Engineering Department). Each post has 1 vacancy. These are hands-on, experienced roles: the Taxation consultant handles the University's Income Tax, GST and TDS work and helps claim exemptions such as 12AA and 80G, while the Constructions consultant oversees the University's civil and engineering works. Who Can Apply?

Consultant (Taxation)

  • You must be a Chartered Accountant (CA) and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).
  • You need 5 years of experience in Taxation and its management, ideally in educational institutions.
  • Sound knowledge of Government Financial Rules, statutory returns, and MS-Office/Excel and ERP software is needed. Experience in a Central/State Government Finance or Accounts division is desirable.
  • You should be able to work independently in a multi-disciplinary, deadline-driven environment.

Consultant (Constructions)

  • You must be a Class-I / A-Class officer (serving or retired) in a government organisation.
  • You need 10 years of work experience in the relevant field in a government organisation.

Other Conditions

  • You should have a good academic record — at least 2nd class with 50% marks at graduation level.
  • If you passed your qualifying exam through distance or correspondence mode, attach the UGC-DEB approval / territorial jurisdiction certificate.
  • Reservation benefits are given to residents of Punjab State only. Reserved-category candidates must attach a latest Punjab Domicile / Residence certificate.

Age Limit

  • Consultant (Taxation): Upper age limit is 65 years.
  • Consultant (Constructions): Open to serving or retired Class-I officers. The engagement is renewed yearly and can continue up to the age of 70 years.

Salary

  • Both posts carry a fixed pay of Rs. 50,000 per month.
  • The engagement is for one year to begin with and can be extended on a yearly basis.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written exam for these posts.

  1. Scrutiny of Applications: The University checks all applications and calls a suitable number of candidates who meet the criteria.
  2. Interview: Your bio-data is placed before the Selection Committee and shortlisted candidates are called for an interview.

Final selection is based on your interview before the Selection Committee. The University may choose to fill or not fill the posts, and the number of posts can go up or down. Your documents and background are verified at the time of appointment, and any fake or suppressed information leads to termination.

  2. Register once — you need to register only one time, even if you apply for both posts.
  3. Fill in the form and upload your photograph and signature (each under 100 KB, JPEG).
  4. Pay the application fee online (Credit Card / Debit Card / Net Banking).
  5. Take two printouts of the submitted form, paste the same photo, and keep one copy for yourself.
  6. Send the other printout with self-attested copies of your qualification, experience and category certificates to The Registrar, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar - 143005, Punjab.
  7. The hard copy must reach GNDU by 17 July 2026. Persons already in service must send the hard copy through their employer.
  8. If you work in an affiliated college or another institution, you may attend the interview without a No Objection Certificate by giving an undertaking — but if selected, no extra joining time is allowed.

Responsibilities

  • Handle all Income Tax, GST and TDS matters of the University (Taxation)
  • File statutory TDS and GST returns on time and keep tax records in order (Taxation)
  • Get the University its due exemptions under the Income Tax Act, such as 12AA, 80G and 10(23C) (Taxation)
  • Support internal and statutory audits and act on audit objections (Taxation)
  • Guide and oversee construction and civil works projects of the University (Constructions)
  • Check work quality, estimates and progress of engineering projects (Constructions)
  • Advise the University on government rules for works and contracts (Constructions)

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

Chartered Accountant with 5 years experience (Taxation); or Class-I / A-Class government officer, serving or retired, with 10 years experience (Constructions)

Preferred Qualification

Experience in the Finance/Accounts division of Central/State Government and knowledge of ERP software (for the Taxation post)

Required Skills

Income Tax, GST, TDS, taxation management, auditing, MS-Office/Excel, ERP software (Taxation); civil construction and works project management in government (Constructions)
